    Fluid leak behind master cylinder

I tried replacing the seals in my power brake booster but that made the leak worse. Ended up replacing the whole hydraulic power brake unit for $240 and leak is no more

    Fluid leak at rear diff?

I just changed the gasket and oil about 15k miles ago. I don't know when this started leaking but I just discovered that my rear diff is covered in fluid on the front and at the bottom of it. I guess the gasket is probably what's leaking at the bottom of the diff cover, but what about all that...

    Fluid leak behind master cylinder

Thanks, so it could be both. I'm thinking to upgrade the master cylinder with the NBS style that is popular. The YT videos suggest part number NM4073 will fit the OBS to 1999, but they're doing it on gas engines only. It looks the same as the NBS master cylinder for 6.6L but I'm not sure if it's...

    Fluid leak behind master cylinder

I noticed either brake or power steering fluid all over my chassis and finally found the source of the drip. It was almost directly below master cylinder, and I found the source to be between the MC and whatever is behind it(brake booster?). Its a 1996 6.5l diesel k3500. Is there a seal between...

    LP bypass to Walbro FRB-5

I'd bought one for a 93 in 2021 and installed it in March of this year, so about 5k miles. It had similar pressure to what you mentioned but it just took a poop. Went bad. Lucky I had a spare LP on me and did a roadside fix. ACDELCO parts are failing me over and over again. I just replaced a...

Lower ball joint size identification on '96 k3500 4x4

Thanks for the info and pics! So I believe I have forged, so that would mean 47.89mm press-fit will fit the bill, I believe. Attached pic

Lower ball joint size identification on '96 k3500 4x4

I need to order new lower ball joints for my 1996 4x4 k3500 and see that there are 2 diferent sizes, and for forged, welded, or stamped control arms. How do I tell what size I need and for what control arm? Pardon me I didn't know there were these variations for our trucks. I see 46.13mm and...

Low (fuel) pressure switch that closes at <= 5 PSI

Does anyone know how a NC OPS with 2 terminals works? Does that just mean there will be continuity between the contacts when "closed" and then once open, continuity is lost?

Low (fuel) pressure switch that closes at <= 5 PSI

That seems to be the answer I'm looking for. Thanks!

Low (fuel) pressure switch that closes at <= 5 PSI

This is for a 1996 6.5L TD ambulance which weighs approx. 12,500 lbs. Currently using a 1993 lift pump and have been happy with the higher pressure, but I want more. Right now idle is 9-10 PSI but it will drop down to 1-2 PSI at WOT. I plan to have 2 lift pumps inline. One will run constantly...

1996 k3500 diesel hi beam wire color not same as in manual

I decided not to go thru the hassle of taking apart the wiring harness and figuring out where the wire is broke. Instead I tapped the wire from the multifunction switch and run a new wire thru the firewall to give power to the LT green that powers the hi beams

1996 k3500 diesel hi beam wire color not same as in manual

Its a Cheyenne with sealed beam headlights. Not the quad type. My hi beams aren't working and I've been trying to diagnose. The 3 wires at the headlight are light green, tan and black. I get no power to the lt green when switching the headlight dimmer switch to HI and no bright/hi beam indicator...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

Interesting find in regards to upgrading to the dual t stats for heavy duty rigs like my ambulance. The article shared by @someotherguy mentions using a non by-pass blocking thermostat to prevent overpressurizing the coolant system on heavy rigs with hi flow wp as an alternative to dual t stats...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

It was cooling fine the past year thru the past 2 summers with the same t stat. @Orpedcrow I should have mentioned those pics were taken with the upper shroud removed! Sorry. Thanks for sharing

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

Thanks for the info. Looking to see if it will bolt on without much if any modification to my truck. I have dual alternator as well so I wonder if there will be space. These 2...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

Yeah I was curious too. Going to try that. My guess is that it opens at 210+. The truck would always eventually cool down after being at 215-220. Will post those results here... Edit: Boiled in water, doesn't open at all And in regards to me not hearing the fan clutch kick on. I guess that's...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

Well I'm surprised that it was a stuck ac Delco 190° thermostat. I figured out it wasn't the fan clutch by clamping the fan to the nut on the water pump and testing with same hot result. The bad t stat was installed in December of 2020 so it was right after the 24 month warranty was expired...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

I'm gonna try replacing the tstat with another 190° for now I guess? It is 5 months after the 24 month warranty on it expired. It'll arrive Thursday tho. Cheapest fix to try. When engine is warm and I try to spin the fan by hand it moves very little after I let go. What other way can I test the...

6.5L k3500 getting hot all of a sudden

It's a 1996 4x4 ambulance, so is basically always pulling a load. I've weighed it at 12,630 pounds total. Is that a lot? I did the HO water pump, duramax fan swap from Leroy diesel last May, 2022. Been doing fine until now. Driving up lots of hills, going slow the temps stayed below 210 almost...

6.5l diesel leak dripping from bottom of starter. How to locate the problematic line

Its usually simple and it was this time. Tried changing the filter and o ring on the filter housing first, and the drip seems to have subsided. I noticed fuel all over one of the bolts holding the housing down, and a piece missing from the o ring so it was pretty obvious that would be the first...

Cool, that was what I was thinking to check first. Already have a replacement fuel filter manager. Thanks for the tip!
