It runs like a top now, it’ll push you back in the seat.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

This thread seems dead but I’ll update y’all anyway. Ordered a new cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Taking the old stuff off, the old plug wires literally fell apart in my hands. That made it a real *****, I had to find my angled needle nose pliers and work the old ends of little by little and...

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Well… It doesn’t like to start when the weather is wet. If I do get it started, it starts again just fine after it’s been warmed up. Like if I go to the store for smokes and shut it off, then it fires right up again. Of course it starts just fine when the weather is drier. We had a heavy...

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Looks like rain starts again today. I’ll be continuing to check on it throughout this nastiness and see what happens.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Ok, that first one looks just like what’s on there now. So if it’s the original, this truck has 226K miles on it. The wires look good, but old. I’ll probably go ahead and replace the ignition from top to bottom when I get around to it.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Heck if I know, the scanner said “throttle position sensor” and it’s a quick, easy and cheap swap so I just swapped it. New AC Delco part for $45, took about five minutes.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

The original cap on these were round, right? This one has one I’ve seen people call a “spider” style. Instead of wires arranged in a circle on top of a round cap, it’s got a cap with four wires coming out of each side. I’ll definitely pull the cap next time it rains and check it out. Thank you.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Yes, but It’s not driven in the rain and not really messed with in the rain. So if it’s moisture related, reckon it could be humidity?

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Y’all… My new TPS came in the other day. I went ahead and swapped it out. Figured “meh, let’s see what happens”. Same thing. It’d turn over like crazy, but no start. I pulled fuses one by one when I got home from work today. They were all good but I did kind of wipe the blades while examining...

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

I picked up a pressure tester on my way home from work. I had to get under the truck to listen, but was able to hear the pump whirring. Got somewhere around 62-63 pounds on the gauge, almost dead in the middle of what the specs call for. I’ll be checking fuses soon. Thankfully this isn’t my...

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

Thanks guys. I’m definitely trying to avoid throwing money at the wrong problems. Been down that road before. It ends with heartbreak and an empty bank account.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

I’ll have to get my wife out to listen for it whenever it stops raining. If it ever stops raining. I’m starting to wonder.

Don’t seem to be getting fuel

98 Silverado, 5.7 Liter, 226K miles, bone stock. Of course my mind jumps straight to the fuel pump, because I know how notorious they are in these trucks. I can’t hear ****, thanks to multiple visits to the sandbox and I don’t have access to a scanner. How can I diagnose this so I don’t...

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

Late update. Getting a new transmission. Replaced all the gadgets, drove it around the loop behind my house. 1-2, good, 2-3 good, no surge, not enough road to open it up anymore than that. Came to the stop sign at the highway, turned right to get home and it’s MAYBE a quarter mile away. Plenty...

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

The fluid looks fresh and doesn’t have any funky burnt or acrid smells.

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

Well whatever the hell they’re called, the code reader said “shift sensor”. I’ll be sure to scold it for making up part names the next time I see it. I didn’t write down the number that came up with it. I bought a full kit that should replace all the electronics and/or pressure operated...

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

I’ll look into that once I address the rest of this problem and get 1st and 4th back.

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

Just read one of the stickies, and this seems like the limp mode mentioned. Sorry for not reading that first, I didn’t see it. Still interested in opinions though.

Shift sensor issue and maybe something else?

1998 k1500, 5.7/4l60e, transmission is about two years old. My truck has a bad shift sensor. The way it was explained to me is that this sensor Is what tells the TC to lock at cruising speed? I have no idea wtf, I’m not a mechanic, I’m a half assed part swapper at best and I’m damn sure not a...

    High mileage bragging rights

The earlier, slightly smaller displacement Colognes didn’t have the head and head gasket problems the 2.9 did. I had to look up that car. I have a Sunbeam toaster.

    High mileage bragging rights

Anyone familiar with Ford’s Cologne engines? Real pieces of junk designed or manufactured in Cologne, Germany. Can’t remember which. I had a ‘87 Ranger with the 2.9 liter V6, the crappiest piece of crap of them all. I think they averaged around 100-150K miles. I managed to milk mine for 480K...

    Cab trim?

Surely the vet doesn’t treat your wife too? I mean, I’ve been there, done that, but I didn’t think it was common.
