Did timing chain and water pump, truck won't crank or start

Yes, I can spin the engine with an extension bar.

Did timing chain and water pump, truck won't crank or start

I thought about this too, I took the battery to the parts store and it tested bad. Put new battery in, truck still won't start. Just shakes the truck as if the starter wants to spin the flywheel but it's as if there is mechanical resistance.

Did timing chain and water pump, truck won't crank or start

That's what I mean, I'm not describing properly. The gears came off like that and went back on like that.

Did timing chain and water pump, truck won't crank or start

1996 GMC Sierra K1500 5.7L L31 157k on odometer I resealed timing cover and did the chain this weekend, did the water pump as well. I stupidly drained the battery with the hood dome light (yes, I should have disconnected the battery), charged it when everything was put back together and now the...

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

What does GM recommend for these old 4L60Es? I believe mine was serviced with NAPA GM compatible synthetic not long before I bought it but I’m open to the idea something else is better next time around. I have never been able to find definitive source material saying a specific brand, just Dex...

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

Last two posters you make excellent and legitimate points about heat and coolant contamination. However, that still leaves me where I am now, with temperatures over 200 on 90+ degree days on steep grades at highway speed. I checked the cooler on there now and it is a Hayden. There isn’t much...

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

This is helpful, thank you. I am in Idaho so the truck will be operated in very cold temperatures at times, so I will need the pre-warming from the radiator before too long. The fan has a switch in the cabin and I don’t use it much. Was wondering about the quality of the cooler also, I will plan...

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

Ok I will plan on tackling that. There is also a metal outlet on the drivers side of the radiator that I assume is for a return line. Does anyone have a link to a hose routing map/diagram for the cooling system on the 1996 K1500 with the 5.7L V8 Vortec L31? It’s not in the Haynes or a Chilton...

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

If you look at the first picture, my thumb is on the capped radiator inlet, the next finger up is my index pointing at the temp sensor, which is on the transmission outlet line, pre-cooling.

Is this transmission cooling setup normal/acceptable

I bought a 1996 K1500 Sierra SLE about 6 weeks ago and I'm loving it so far. The previous owner installed a secondary fan and cabin temperature gauge for the transmission. Recently I took it up a really steep grade for the first time and saw temperatures of 202 toward the top at highway speed...

Best Distributor and ones to avoid

I plan on it, I am psycho about PMs. If anything I overdo it, especially with the ones lots of people forget like power steering fluid and brake flushes...

Best Distributor and ones to avoid

New owner of a 1996 Sierra K1500 here! 350 5.7L V8. It’s in excellent shape all things considered, has new shocks, fuel pump and starter. There’s just a few things I have to knock out like ball joints, steering box, distributor and plugs. They switched over to port injection for some of the...
