    72 c10 350 build

Rpm range- right now it idles around 650. After heads and cam I’m assuming it may a little more. Factory converter is somewhere between 1400-1700 I’m reading. So maybe 1500-5500???

    72 c10 350 build

Erik thanks for the reply. It’s funny I’m narrowing down parts and both the cam and intake you posted are top choices. My cam will be flat tappet though. I’ve seen lots of people using the next size up 268 cam but with my stock converter and tall gears I’m thinking I’ll get more useable power...

    72 c10 350 build

The rear end will have to stay 3.08 unless at some point I swap to a 700r4. I’ve considered adding a trutrac but feel it’s not worth opening the rear end until I’m ready to do gears and full rebuild. I’ve been looking quite a bit at the comp xe268 and the lunati voodoo equivalent. I think either...

    72 c10 350 build

If this post is in the wrong section pleas move where deemed appropriate. I totally agree a rear end upgrade would be huge for fun factor however the truck does see some highway use and with the th400 and the 3.08s I’m turning 3000-3100 at 70mph. With 3.73 I’d be running 3700 or so. What’s the...

    72 c10 350 build

I’m putting together a 350 for my c10. Im going to lay out what the truck currently has and also what I’d like to do to the motor. I’d like to get some criticism and/or advise. End goal is to have a dependable motor with tons of torque. The truck is not my daily but I’d like for it to be built...

Going to get EBL!! What cam and intake?

Prob a good idea to learn the EBL set up on the stock motor. there’s a 3704 on marketplace for $200 near me. Although I’ve read that there are better options.

Going to get EBL!! What cam and intake?

So I’m using my stimulus money to stimulate the truck. Going to just jump both feet in and order the EBL set up. I’m looking for some advise on a cam and intake set up that a novice like me would have a decent shot at getting dialed in. I’m sure there are options that a experienced tuner could...

Cracked manifold. Go shorties or afterburner

Yeah I had a set of ceramic pacesetter Lts on my 2003 Silverado ss. My brother has the truck now and they still look good after about 12 years. Just showing a little rust down at the collector.

Cracked manifold. Go shorties or afterburner

Thanks for that but I already ordered the shorties they actually were delivered Friday. The only reason I’m am doing the swap is because one of my stock manifolds is cracked. So might as well get rid of the stock y pipe as well. I found the flowtech shorties for $99 and matching y pipe for $90...

Cracked manifold. Go shorties or afterburner

I went ahead and ordered the flowtech ceramic shorties with matching y pipe. They were $290 total shipped from Holleys eBay store. I’ll try and do a before and after sound clip for anyone that may be interested. I’ll also post up how smoothly( or not) they bolt up. Also on that eBay store they...

Cracked manifold. Go shorties or afterburner

Truck is a 94. Currently has cracked stock manifold to stock y with cat removed(the original was rattling) then 3in pipe into a borla. Just found ceramic coated flowtech shorties on holleys eBay for $199 matching y pipe for $90. I’m going to order those and give them a try.

Cracked manifold. Go shorties or afterburner

So i found I have a cracked exhaust manifold. I can go flow tech shorties(1 5/8 primaries) with y pipe for $200 or flow tech afterburner with y pipe for $350. Either option will connect to my current 3in pipe into a borla. I’m not running a cat, mine was rattling terribly when I bought the...

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

Thanks for that info. I’ll do my best to get it “dead nuts”. Knowing .003 shims change backlash .002 should be a big time saver. As far as bearing preload. I’m guessing it’s best measured by the rotational torque on the pinion yoke?

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

Any idea what amount of backlash deviation is acceptable? I’m thinking .002 either way??

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

From my understanding the shims are mostly there for loose tolerances in the housing. The ring, pinion and carrier are much more precisely machined relative to the housing. If I were to put the same carrier in two different housings a good place to start would be using the original shims from...

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

That makes sense. As far as putting backlash back to where it was. Is there any room for error? Just for numbers sake let’s say my current backlash is 10 thou and I get the new carrier in and get it to 9 or 11 thou?

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

Thanks for that tip. So I don’t worry about the “spec” in the service manual? I’m going to grab a dial indicator from harbor freight.

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

Ok thanks for the help. Should be fairly easy hopefully just have to get the proper bearings and a shim kit. Not changing the gears just the carrier.

    Will g80 from 2013 fit my 1994

Both are 10 bolt. I know the 2013 is 8.6 and my 1995 is 8.5. I’m pretty sure I just need specific bearings but wanted to confirm before pulling out. I also know my axles are 30 spline not sure in the 2013. My friend wrecked his truck and the g80 is free
