    OBD1 4L60E Scanning?

There are really no transmission codes available on the '93/'94 transmissions. The OBD1 system is just not that advanced and there are only a couple of transmission parameters you can mess with. I have not opened the file on my Burb for at least a year, so I do not even remember what those...

Swapping a tbi with a vortec please help I have a 1993 k1500 with a tbi engine an I want to put a 98 vortec engine! What do I have to change

If you are planning to use the complete engine and transmission you will need the complete wiring harness and computer from the '98. The ecm for the Vortec will not work with the stock transmission in the '93. Full pumps will also need to be changed as well as multiple other parts. We just...

    Rare paint codes

if I ever get my '93 Sub finished and ready for paint, it will become WA177B - Emerald Green Metallic. Had a '96 Dually that color and loved it.

4 wheel drive vs 2 wheel drive engine mounts

I have Don dozens of engine swaps between one onor and another and never once thought about it. The basic dimensions are identical and one swaps with the other. Including putting a V-8 where a V-6 was factory. The base mount on the frame bolted right up. My K5 had thousand of miles on it with...

    Prerunner bumper ideas

Kinda funny, we were building Pre-Runner style trucks before the general public knew what a Pre-Runner was! I remember having the first dual spare tire carriers mounted to the roll bar uprights on my 1976 C10 and the fuel tank in the bed. The rediculous comments made about that set-up. Then it...

    Computer help for carb swap

Interesting! No advance mechanism, Goes against everything I know with old school and new technology, and still run smooth without burning pistons, having a load of knock or being a bear to crank. Worked on one not to long back that had a MSD box attached to a small cap factory dizzy only...

    Computer help for carb swap

A factory small-cap HEI? Or a Aftermarket? Okay, then how are you controlling timing advance, since the factory small cap HEI does not have any built in mechincal advance mechanisms? I have a few of those dizzies on the shelf, and none have a mechanical advance.

Who has the best reputation for reman 4L60E’s?

I have had two 700R4's and a 4L60E built by Monster Transmissions and Performance out of Brooksville, Florida. My 700R4 has over 80K on it behind a mildly modified 350sbc) in a 4x4 K1500 Suburban (started out life in a K5 Blazer. It does not see allot of rough usage but occasionally it gets put...

1988 G20 A Team Drift Van - another air pump delete thread

You need to put a Idler in place of the missing air pump. There is also a idler made specifically for non-A/C models.

Thanks for the link! I had seen it in research but forgot where I had seen it or who had created it it. Back on the list for fine tuning this rig. As mentioned before, it will be late June before I get back to working on this as the next two weeks are dedicated to getting the kid to the 4-H...

    GM crate engines?

Hmm, that is what I thought when I put my crate SBC in a '93 K1500 Suburban. The tune should self adjust, right? Did not happen! Better heads, better intake, longer intake runners and the engine would fall flat on it's face with the stock tune. Lot's of headaches later and several changes in...

    GM crate engines?

For less then $100 dollars difference, the HD would be the way to go, especially if you plan to have power adders at a later date. I have two GM Crates and neither have given me any issues. Both were 100% new parts (not reman) and both running solid. Just converted one to TBI and now that I...

    '93 K1500 engine swap

Thanks for your observations and comments. It keeps ones head thinking, adjusting and confirming what is good and what is bad. In our stock car engines we did not use thermostats. Usually a restrictor in place of the t-stat with a certain size hole in it to control the flow of cooling fluid...

    '93 K1500 engine swap

Update: Last evening was the first time since this journey began that I actually enjoyed driving this truck again. We are on about the 15th modified .bin file and found a timing table and VE tables this combo seems to like. After getting the distributor worked out, throttle linkage brackets...

    Ls computer for you gm400

That is what I am thinking of, and yes, the Lexus (LexTech) comment. Have never found reference where LexTech programmed others 0411's, unless he is talking about the wiring spreadsheet the LexTech use to provide.

    Ls computer for you gm400

What computer do you have exactly! No GM400 that I am aware of came with a LS Based Engine. Early ones were TBI (memcal PCMS) and later ones had Vortecs, which would be a Black Box ECU. Those Vortecs can be converted to use a P01 (early LS PCM) Please post a image or OS number on your PCM!

    91 350 TBI Engine maintenance.

Agree on the NGK's! Have been using them for over 20 years since on of our sponsors started supplying them for us to use. Even had a NGK rep spend some time with us at a couple of races. Have never had a complaint and that is what is in both my '93 Suburban project and my '04 Avalanche!

    '93 K1500 engine swap

No Joy on getting it running today. Too many gotcha's showed up from the previous owners mechanics monkeying around. Did not like some of the wiring repairs, so had to fix that and route them correctly for my liking and less trouble once the headers were installed. Still some brackets to modify...
