So, would that sensor be on the pump inside the tank or on on top? If there is one, then the harness I do have must contain the wire that talks to the PCM. Good Lord. Well, I have no idea...the original pump had been replaced already when I got the truck...could Chevy find out by VIN? Yes...

Thanks! Sounds like I haven't screwed anything up...yet...

    Rough Idle Miss-tery

UPDATE: Problem solved. Turns out the intake manifold was leaking, and one cylinder was sucking oil from the PCV passage and fouling the plug. I also went ahead and upgraded to the injection spider -- BIG difference and well worth the cost and effort. $250 from Motor Man Fuel Injection...

UPDATE -- Problem solved I hate it when I see a thread that relates to a problem I'm having, read all through it, and never find out if the problem was solved, and how. I totally understand...we're all busy, we get it fixed and move on with our lives...but in the spirit of friendly forumship...

    Rear axle question - G80, 4:10

Well, two, actually-- 1998 Silverado 4X4 1-ton Crew Cab---I've got a whine (only when accelerating) coming from somewhere that starts in at about 50 MPH, and disappears somewhere between 55 and 60 MPH. It's not real loud, but it's there. I sorta figured being a 1-ton truck that maybe the...

UPDATE (...and still not fixed...) So: new tank new gas cap new purge solenoid Still pulls a hella-vacuum. Actually, it's worse now that there's not any leaks. Having said that, there is an oddity in that there are two electrical connections on the fuel pump, but only one is hooked up. I...

    Ghost in the Machine...

Well, I found the problem. The tank was cinched up tighter’n Dick’s hat band, and it buckled. Made a tiny stress crack where this rib gave way. Of all the dumb luck...

Thanks for the info, and my apologies for not introducing my gal: 1998 Chevy Silverado K3500, 350, auto, crew cab, long bed, white.

It's in the fuel tank, actually. I haven't had the truck all that long, but the owner before me recently installed a brand new fuel tank and fuel pump. Yay, I thought; that's a couple of things I won't have to address for quite a while! Wrong. Ever since I've had it, the fuel tank periodically...

    Rough Idle Miss-tery

OK, I pulled the plugs when I got home and all of them looked good except for #5 (two shots of the same plug): I checked the compression in that cylinder, and it pumped up to 150lbs. I smelled of the plug, and it didn't really have a super-strong gasoline scent, however, the crankcase...

    Rough Idle Miss-tery

Howdy, folks. My newly-acquired '98 Chevy 350 (which is off up in in a Chevy K3500) has a miss; rough idle, vibration, no power. The truck does not surge, stutter, or stumble, it just has a consistent miss. But she starts right up as soon as you bump the key. All cylinders are getting...

    VATS VOODOO: PASSlock workaround questions:

As I stated in my introduction, I am new here so please forgive me if this topic has been hashed-out ad nauseam-- I recently acquired a 1998 Chevy Silverado K3500 crew cab. The previous owner gave up on trying to make it run after having spent a small fortune on replacing ignition and fuel...

    Howdy.

Just got myself a 1998 Chevy K3500 crew cab that I traded for a microphone. Only has 112k on the clock; the fuel pump went out, so Farmer Marron parked it in his barn one day and there it sat for 7 years. I've mostly had F@&ds, but I've had many, many vehicles in my 50 years, and more than a...
