You’re one of maybe 5 other half ton nv4500 owners I know of. Congrats brother

    Clunking on deceleration?

I’ll post pics when I get it out fully. I’m having to take it out with the transfer case still attached and it likes maybe half an inch from clearing the tip of the input shaft plus it’s been raining on and off and I’ve been working on it in my yard so it’s getting muddy

    Clunking on deceleration?

I’m assuming it’s good due the fact that when I was shaking it it wasn’t moving very much and when I tried to jack it up to see if it was separated it started picking the truck up also. It could still be bad I’m gonna replace it as well but I’ve already go so far as to remove my transmission...

    Clunking on deceleration?

Yes but WAY louder. Trans mount is good though it’s not coming apart like that though. Doesn’t really matter now because of the situation with my transmission and transfer case stuck together so I gotta get that sorted out before I go any further. I appreciate you showing me that too

    Nv4500 clutch recommendations?

I’ll check on a price but I live in a small town so I would likely need to travel at least an hour to find someone to resurface it.

    Nv4500 clutch recommendations?

Appreciate the advice, I’ll probably just go ahead replace the flywheel cause the one I’m looking at is about $70 and I have to remove it anyways to do my rear main. It don’t really bother me to spend the money on it I plan on keeping it the rest of my life

    Nv4500 clutch recommendations?

Yeah I’m worried about it being too heavy cause I love how this clutch feels right now it’s light enough to be able to work for hours but heavy enough to really get a good feel for it. Any sort of OEM+ brand you might recommend?

    Clunking on deceleration?

Well after 2 hours of trying to remove the transfer case I can definitely say I have other issues along with the noise. It’s acting like the two shafts are welded together I can spin the transfer case around the transmission but no amount of pulling, twisting, or banging is making it move. I...

    Clunking on deceleration?

It’s not really a minor issue though it’s extremely loud and makes my truck jerk when it does it. Also I don’t want something to happen and it break while I’m out driving somewhere. Been there done that absolutely hated it

    Clunking on deceleration?

None at all just the clunking when releasing the throttle like I’m going to coast or when I go to reverse. I had a slight vibration around 50 but that was because I put my driveshaft in the wrong way I flipped it and it went away.

    Clunking on deceleration?

My friend was under my truck while I was getting it to make the noise and he said it sounds likes coming from where the transmission and transfer case mate together and when it makes the noise I can hear it almost directly beneath me. I don’t believe it’s suspension because all my bushings...

    Clunking on deceleration?

So you’re not convinced that the splines could have some play in them due to being worn down and is what causing the sound? I’m all for anything that prevents me from rebuilding my trans.

    Clunking on deceleration?

I started removing the transfer case last night and I just want to get confirmation on something before I go through the entire process for naught. If it turns out it is my transmission output shaft clunking against my transfer case input shaft that if I replace my transmission main shaft it...

    Nv4500 clutch recommendations?

I am familiar Ive done some looking into it and tried the remedies to no avail. The reason I’m suspecting my transmission is because the splines on my main shaft were fairly worn out and I have a rebuilt transfer case with all new internals so I’m assuming it’s got the same issue just instead of...

    Nv4500 clutch recommendations?

1995 Chevy k1500 350 NV4500 How’s it going everyone, I was recently chasing a clunking problem in my driveline and I’m pretty sure I’ve chalked it up to the splines on my main shaft being worn so I’m pulling the trans to replace it. Truck has about 175-180k miles (50k that I’ve put on it) on it...

    Clunking on deceleration?

Yeah it’s torsion bar. I believe all 4wd 400s are but I’m not 100% on that. I’ll give that a look before I yank the transmission tonight.

    Clunking on deceleration?

I don’t think it’s that far out there’s a lot of it inside in the transfer case

    Clunking on deceleration?

So I got to pondering on the subject and came up with this idea. Would it be possible that since I have a new transfer case but the factory transmission, is it possible that I’ve developed the clunk between the output of the trans and input of my transfer case? That seems to make sense as to why...

    Clunking on deceleration?

I did the best I can for the video I noticed that before it makes the clunk it looks like my driveshaft starts to spin then clunks like it’s taking up slack somewhere in the system Also ignore the red that’s either the grease or some transmission fluid from when I pulled my driveshaft out on a...

Transfer was fully rebuilt with entirely brand new internals. Let me see what I can do about a video idk if it’ll translate well considering my exhaust but I’ll try

    Clunking on deceleration?

Update after a week of rain and not being able to work on my truck. I took the rear driveshaft out and looked at the splines on it and everything appeared to be clean but I slapped some grease in it anyway and it’s still doing it. Seems to do it every time I put it in reverse and let off the...

Engine oil for a tbi 350

Engine oil is like socks and underwear. Everyone uses different types but as long as you change in a timely manner you’ll be fine. They’re also similar in the way that some people neglect to change them. Personally I’ve ran everything from OReilly brand 10w30(what I currently use with a delco...
