I got a little bit more work done today on the truck. Most of it was focused around the drivers door and getting a working door key. When I got the truck I didn't get a door key with it so after fixing the door handles, window motor and hinge pins it was time to get a key made so I can finish...

I call this one Gold Digger.

Hopefully this is going to be the last gmt400 I get going for a while until I find a crew cab and i think that brings the count to 5 trucks being built currently. I call this one Gold Digger because it's on it 3rd build to date and I've sunk lots of money into it more than a few times. When I...

    "ODB"

I pulled this one into the shop today after getting some parts ready from a parts truck I bought last week. Most of the parts I have for it this time is interior related. I started out by replacing the interior door handles with some new Chinese replacements and straightening out the handle...

    Jayne the shop truck

I made more progress today and started finishing the dual exhaust. I had previusously got from the manifolds back to just past the frame crossmember in 2.25" pipe off a k1500 project I started a few weeks back. This go around I got from the bumper to the end of the mufflers in 2.5" pipe plus...

    94 4l60e- 98 4l60e conversion

It will fit but your going to need to use the computer and wiring harness for the 96.

    Jayne the shop truck

I got a parts order in a few days ago with a few of the maintenance items that I noticed that needed to be addressed. This evening I installed a new serpentine belt, thermostat, and water neck. Everything is moving along well with the shop truck now and its turning into a solid truck. In the...

    94 4l60e- 98 4l60e conversion

For the most part everything swaps around fairly easily. There are a number of differences between 94 and 98 though. Off the top of my head the 98 got a 2 piece case and larger input shaft. Where your going to run into problems is the 94 does not have pwm torque converter lock up. I think the...

I've done a little bit more work to the old truck over the past couple days and found a number of other things that need to be fixed up. To start with the front end needs a good bit of work. It looks like I will be replacing the pitman arm, idler mount and idler. The transmission is also...

I got this cursed turd running today. Got the motor stabbed and most of the kinks worked out on it. There are a few things to sort out still on the motor but it runs okay for being cobbled together with spares and what I could save from the blown motor. Seems like the electrical system needs...

    Where the sbc 350 builds

I've been thinking about 411 swapping the black box and trying tunerpro and ls droid on a vortec. I dont have a truck to put it in at the moment but might be getting closer to one. As far as builds go I've got a few going. Today I finished a motor with a l31 short block and tbi top for a k1500...

I ended up lapping what I could with the valves and putting the heads back together. Now I have a complete engine ready to get stuck in the truck tomorrow. I will be searching for some different heads a bit later on for sure but this should get me a runner at least for the time being.

I've been slowly chipping away at getting this truck as a runner again. Parts came in so work has moved along again. In the parts order was a full gasket set and some new inner door handles. Mostly though it's been a matter of cleaning parts up and getting them ready to be freshened up. I got...

So I slipped up and bought another clapped out chevy on an impulse. This one being a 92 k1500 long bed that I just couldn't pass up for the price. It has 350k miles on the clock and doors, but looks like it was taken care of most of its life. Sadly this one isn't really my flavor and it's...

    Jayne the shop truck

Did a little work on the truck today. First I sorted out why radio no longer works. It turns out I need some new speakers. I'm not sure what I'm going to do as far as that goes and getting replacements. Recently I got another k1500 that needs a motor. While yanking the motor out I saw that it...

    Inexpensive tool boxes?

Find a couple of cheap old dressers for clothes. Usually you can get nice solid wood ones for free or very cheap. That frees up cash to spend on more tools and parts.

    Jayne the shop truck

I didn't get much done on Jayne this weekend. I did manage to do the 4 hi headlight mod I've been wanting for a while. I had a relay with a pre made pigtail in a junk bin. I fired up the soldering iron and extended the wires a little bit and had it done in short order. While working on the...

    Roadrunners SWB 4wd build

I did a bit more work on the truck this weekend. First up I worked on the loose tilt steering. As with many of these trucks the bolts back by the shift column were loose making the column floppy. I found a steering wheel puller recently in a falling down shed I cleaned out. Then i bought a tool...

    brake peddle vibration

Rockauto has been great for me so far, but you got to know exactly what your getting and the super cheap parts are that way for a reason. I usually get acdelco for the price of the Chinese stuff available at Napa or Autozone. It's possible that the rotors need to be turned right out of the box...

    4L60E TAP Reset?

It could be a worn a acumulator in the valve body and they are notorious for leaking at the pin causing rough shifts. Sonax makes some billet replacements that are inexpensive enough and eliminate harsh shifts. Did you rebuild the unit yourself?

    Roadrunners SWB 4wd build

I got the truck running again tonight after checking the fuel pump. While I was in there I found out that the sending unit is broken so I will have to grab another one and change it out. Sadly it wasn't the fuel pump that caused the issue. I found the ecm fuse had blown after noticing the check...

I went through the truck today and checked all the fluids and cleaned it out a bit. Looks like its past time to fix the water neck and replace the thermostat.

    Roadrunners SWB 4wd build

I got a little bit of work done earlier today. I pulled the governor out of the transmission and cleaned it all up. I also did a bit of work getting the TV cable fixed. Finally got the transmission shifting again so maybe it will survive for a little while before I got to tear into it. Heres a...

    Jayne the shop truck

Here is Jayne the shop truck. I picked this truck up after wrecking my 98 c1500. I was originally going to swap the vortec out of the 98 into it but decided to keep the little 305 TBI in it because it ran good, but needed the 4l60e rebuilt. Up to this point I've rebuilt the 4l60e and...

    Roadrunners SWB 4wd build

Here is a pic of a SWB K1500 I'm building up for my wife's dad. I ended up picking the truck up with a trashed transfer case and blown rearend on the cheap. After getting it home I was checking it out and the 350 in it had rebuilders tags on it and the dash was showing 120k on the odometer. So I...

Looking to build a good street setup

After checking out a few different options now I think I will try to keep up the tbi 350 for another year or so with regular maintenance and live with it. It's a recently rebuilt motor and I rebuilt the trans 20k ago. I think I will put the vortec in a square body I have sitting and sell it for...
