    Near-factory AUX switch

If anyone could connect me to them, that’d be great. I was wondering if anyone did that.

    Near-factory AUX switch

ISO of a factory style auxiliary switch for a light bar. Something that would go above the cargo light switch and not look out of place. Did any GMT400’s come with such switch? I’ve been fog light switches but am looking for one that would say aux light (or something of that nature).

Began testing for spark on an air gap tester. After getting a solid charge on the battery, tested spark at #1 plug wire with said tester and wasn’t the high energy blue spark that i was looking for. Out of time?

Might try and replace spark plugs tomorrow but a thought cross my mind before. The connector coolant temp sensor on the driver cylinder head did seem to pop off at the boot but i pushed the boot back on. maybe it isn’t making good contact causing a no start? or are these trucks before that was a...

I’ve checked spark at the plugs with a grounded tester. Not all but some. Battery was on the weaker side but the arc was a yellowish tint as described by my helper.

Tried to rotate distributor 180 degrees. Now it cranks like it should but still doesn’t want to start. Can smell gas. Would an engine code prevent starting?

Will try that and update today!

That’s what i meant by ground strap oops. So as far as i can tell, all my grounds are set good.

so it’s possible i dropped it in on the wrong tdc? like exhaust instead of compression?

So try and remove all spark plugs and see if it can crank without compression? I changed the head gasket because of a cracked cylinder head due to overheating (caused by the lower water pump hose blowing off due to my negligence after a water pump change). At no point did i have to align the...

i agree that it should crank that long. it seems to crank for a maximum of five seconds before it begins to slow down or make a clunk sound and suddenly stop. i didnt mess with the timing chain at all. i had oreillys test the battery and it was good so they charged it but still seems drained. if...

i know the two ground straps at the front of the block are set good and i have the wire coming off of the harness beside the distributor grounded to the bracket on the head. did i miss any?

it sparks from the wires but not sure about the plugs after going through the entire system today. unplugged and plugged back in all sensors, resat dist’ cap, checked order of plug wires. when trying to crank it’ll begin to then slowly crank slower until it stops

update, tried removing the cap and realigning button, tested for spark with actual tester, had spark but weak due to battery being low. spark plugs aren’t in the best of shape but from what i can tell still useable. tried offsetting fist’, didn’t work. checked all grounds and they’re good...

definitely worth a try, but it seems like it’ll only crank for a few seconds before slowing and stopping itself. battery is charged. also, cap rotor and wires have maybe 8k miles on them. all plug wires are firmly in cap

would it being off a few degrees not allow it to spark? i realize it would be a rough timing but i figured it would still spark at least.

The cap is still in good shape, but i did notice a little bit of wear on the rotor. right in the middle, it appears there is a tad “burn”, but from what i’ve seen that’s normal. once again, still lost on why it would happen when everything was fine before

i don’t have a scanner but i marked the position of the distributor and realigned it properly with how it was before.

The spark looked like it jumped that far and looked good. As far as the contacts being bad, how would i be able to identify that? would they look burnt? cap was fine before i removed it.

from my vision, the distributor appears to be all the way down and the button is pointing the the #1 cylinder wire. also, the rotor does spin. i’ve reseated the distributor a few times at this point

I just replaced my head gaskets on my 98 5.7,and once i got everything back together and the distributor set, i tried to start it and wasn’t getting any spark to the wires. ignition coil is firing and cap and rotor were fine before i took everything apart. Is it possible they would’ve just went bad?
