Forged lower control arms for Tuff Country lift

I have some gmt400 forged lowers coming. Hopefully. Going to see if they are straight and clean and if not I’ll have to find another pair. Seems like the bushings might be different from the stamped to forged though. I have poly ones so hopefully they fit.

Forged lower control arms for Tuff Country lift

Here it is, minimal difference. I see ford ranger factory torsion bars with worse spacing them this when I was searching the problem. Again, pictures upside down. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/torsion-bar-twist-how-far-how-high.467900/

Forged lower control arms for Tuff Country lift

You can actually see in the picture how the hex is machined with a taper. So it probably is meant to spin a bit.

Forged lower control arms for Tuff Country lift

It’s actually a 99 2500 Silverado part I’m using (at least that’s what I remember the search coming up as), so maybe that’s where the size comes in. Honestly it’s not enough to worry about but I’m not the kind of person to put something together like that. but then again I guess it was...

Forged lower control arms for Tuff Country lift

I ran into an issue with the stamped lower control arms on my 99 OBS Tahoe. They allowed for almost zero suspension travel with the new one piece subframe. I bought dorman forged lower control arms and now the hex is larger on the control arm and the torsion bar is a bit loose in it. Does...

Why can’t I find tahoe side quarter glass info?!

Yes you can see on the glass where the rust is leaking. Seems like it’s separating the seal from the window, but im not sure if there is a metal track within the seal. Same thing happens on my audi door blades. Salt gets in the metal insert and makes it swell splitting the rubber. I'm just being...

Why can’t I find tahoe side quarter glass info?!

What do you think about that rust popping through, seal or window frame? I’m not going to pull it this time of the year.. 10 below where I am and a foot of snow the other day

Why can’t I find tahoe side quarter glass info?!

So I have been looking for answers for replacing the seal on my 99 Tahoe’s side quarter window. With no luck. From what it seems the side window outer seal is part of the window. Does that mean it comes out and can be reused? I potentially have some rust I want to fix but it’s in an odd spot...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Arizona truck... Even got the cats out without breaking anything. But I will be spraying with pb anyway. Started to rust bullet the rest of the frame where I won't be welding.

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

I ordered a tuff country kit and getting Bilstein 5100 for it with a hellwig load helper. More than likely not going to start on this until spring, it's to damn cold here. Going to box my frame and do a 6.0 and 4l80 swap as well. Hopefully won't have to fix any rust around that window.

Any pictures of your 99 front end? Is it OBS or NBS?

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Plattsburgh, hopefully not for too much longer though. Looking like it's coming from the seal itself. This is the rear side window.

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

This is the only real thing I was worried about on the truck. Couldn't find anything online on it, but it looks like the window seal is rusting. Nothing on the truck. It's a clean Arizona truck other than where they scraped the shop sticker off the door and they replaced the passenger door and...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

I know, I have had them on a truck before. Except making it go in the opposite direction of a lift. Going to order tonight and the Bilsteins also. If nothing else at least I will have a mostly fresh suspension. I checked how far you are from me, 4 1/2 hours. Stuck up here in the north country...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Looks good, I am going to go with the 4" for sure. Found in an old thread talking about rancho lifts that they were seen as the strongest because they had a 1 piece subframe. Same as the Tuff Country. I was leaning more toward doing a real leaf lift instead of blocks but seems like the factory...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

I do think I want a little lift, because as infrequently as I would be wheeling I'd like to have the extra clearance if I need it. I was hauling some firewood out of the woods and hit a wet spot and sank to the frame. lol I don't think I would have had an issue if I had a bit of a lift in it...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Yeah I am only going to go 33 at the most and I wont be wheeling often.. So the Tuff country it is. 4" is on sale for 981 shipped right now and I will get the Bilstein 5100 which are 315 shipped on amazon right now. I won't even put any of this in until I get the motor and trans swap ready. I...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

I know how you feel with that... I have a car I have had for about 14 years apart again and the first time I did it I made a rotisserie. Nothing too major but as I get older I kick myself for taking Air conditioning out. I have enough projects, three projects and mine and her daily. I think I am...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

You have a straight axle swap or superlift? Any thoughts on the tuff country stuff? I feel I always heard good things about them on other types of vehicles. I do like the idea of a one piece boxed subframe.

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Rough country sells this which gets me thinking will this be affected when I swap in the LQ4 and 4l80? Will the cross member need to be made to take into account the 4l80 and lift... I have to get underneath tomorrow and see where they might differ...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

Mine is still old Body style. Couple things I am seeing with it though.... I guess technically I should just look at it as a 98. But then from there I see most places say that it will not work with a 4 door Tahoe only the 2 door. But from what I gather from reading that is just a disclaimer for...

Why isn't the 99 Tahoe listed on any kits and why only 2 door?

I have an early build 99 Tahoe with the floor shift 4x4. I am trying to figure out why all the kits I look at say they will only work up to a 1998 and for the Tahoe it has to be a 2 door?
