When/why did buffing a car become "paint correction"?

Get yourself a nice lab coat, fancy rubber gloves, an industrial looking form of eye protection, I might suggest the full face shield for effect, maybe even have led lights on there, RGB at that, then call it Paint Correction, making you a Correctoriologist, and now you can charge Lawyer type...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

Bull Ring makes a decent anchor as well. The cheaper brands seem to use inferior hardware, I would just give the one from AutoZone a good looking over. I bought a stainless steel tong from Wal-Mart to flip stuff in the over, like garlic bread and such, the kind that has the spring inside. The...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

I realize it now. I wonder if they made their money back on those. You know, that would be a nice setup if one could get rid of the top plate altogether and mount it flush with the bed, that would be cool. Have to think about that for a bit.

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

I like those, except the patent pending status right there on top. Bull Ring makes some nice ones as well. I have to make a 'key' of sorts. The limitations of my tools made it so the slot on the top is narrower than the finger required to push it down th 1/2 inch into the pocket to release the...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

I put a rubber gasket of sorts between the anchor and the bed for protection of the truck finish, is now only semi-flush, but I can live with it. Might g8ve it another coat of paint, not sure, but I'm calling this one done. Very sturdy in the pocket, and although I can't effectively test for...

    Courtesy light wire help

Nice looking truck. That one ground for those features, without some sort of module/controller for the leds, might be an issue, since the leds always have a ground. That is a pickle.

Looks nice so far, should look a little better once I paint everything.

    Courtesy light wire help

I looked at the diagram for the blinkers, which in your project the led lights share the blinkers ground. If I assume the diagram to be right, it looks as though the blinkers switches the power and the ground is fixed. In the courtesy light system the ground is switched, meaning it isn't fixed...

    Courtesy light wire help

Had this overly long reply, lol. I'll look a little more into it if you don't figure it out, I like a good electrical problem. I have a 95, so I don't have a module. The module.does something to provide a ground at a specific time I think, this may be why the lights come on when you close the door.

    Courtesy light wire help

Did you use that white wire as the ground with the orange as power? There will be 12 volts on that white wire, but it appears to be the ground wire for that circuit, as when any of the jamb switches close, or the courtesy lamp switch on the headlight switch close , that white becomes a ground...

    Courtesy light wire help

Is this diagram useful? It says 'typical' 1996 and later courtesy lamp system. It would appear you may be looking for that orange wire coming from the interior lamp control module. I couldn't tell you where exactly that is atm. Edit: after looking at the second diagram, it looks like you...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

Well, I got the holes drilled, albeit in the wrong spot, but drilled none the less. All is not lost, as a simple plate on the outside bottom will correct my issue. Problem was, I put a dob of paint on the bottom of each 3/8 inch threaded shaft, see pics above, slid the contraption into the...

    Courtesy light wire help

Would one of those wires come from that little momentary switch mounted to the dashboard by the door panel? That is the switch that pops up when you open the door, it looks like a small plastic rod. I think that switch lets the courtesy lights know when the door is open or closed, so as to...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

The issue with the 2 holes in the bottom of the stake pocket is the bottom is 6 inches down, And I don't have a 7 inch long 3/8" metal bit, and the holes are likely to fall on what looks like a flange, well half on and half off. This is likely to.make whatever bit I use to 'wander' a little...

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

1 I had seen some pop-up bed pocket anchors for sale, but they were very expensive, as I think they aren't being made anymore. Also, the load rating on them seemed a bit small, so I set out to build my own. I completed the mechanics of the first test build, which I haven't installed yet, as I...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

I can't recall where I bought it, it was off the internet. I think it was just some generic replacement part website. I'm not to sure, but I think there are a handful of reproduction makers that resell to a bunch of suppliers, so it likely isn't to important who you buy it off of as it would be...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

Well, there just aren't many choices to start with, without cutting/welding and a rechrome. I'm not sure why GM got rid of the sport bumper to begin with. I've personally lost a bit of faith with GM, especially with this chick in charge pushing the 'future' of giant remote control electric cars...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

I searched the web for many hours looking for a smoothie for gmt400, I didn't come across your thread, not surprising since the internet really only shows hits that translated into advertising money, click bait or completely unrelated topics, but I will.certainly.take a look at it now. It looks...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

I have pretty much buttoned this project up, although I had done some work to the strikers on the tailgate to smoothen out the open/close operation, I just lost the pics for that modification, would be hard to explain. The next in line is for me to embed a small MP3 player into the dash, well...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

Here is what the spare tire looks like, 195/50r15. In retrospect, I may have gone a size wider as now the rim contacts the carrier, as opposed to a wider tire making contact. So, the tire is essentially the width of the rim, what I have to do is cement a thin rubber strip to the carrier where...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

Thanks sewlow, I'll look into it further. @454cid, the bumper is from a 2000 era Ford E-150. The modifications are the 4 capped carriage bolts as the Ford bumper doesn't use external bolts (could go another way, but I like the look), also where the top of the bumper wraps around the side of the...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

I removed the crossmember and the two supports originally to scrape them, then paint them. I used some grade 8.8 bolts ( iirc) in place of the factory rivets when I reinstalled all the parts. At the time I didn't have a spare tire in there, so I wasn't aware how much of the tire was exposed...

Has anyone 'tucked' the spare tire carrier?

@454cid, I did think about in the bed at one point, but I use the bed quite a bit, I was worried it would become a pain in the long run, moving it around and such. I was a bit more fortunate in my situation though, I had installed a lowering kit so I had the bed off for that as well as some...
