    Keeping interior cool

I am going to replace the cycling switch, not because it was short cycling but rather because I didn't see or hear the compressor cycle off a single time yesterday. I removed the blower and cleaned the evaporator coil two years ago but it won't hurt to take it apart and clean it again...

    Keeping interior cool

I took apart the condenser outlet tube and removed the orifice tube that was there and when I took apart the other orifice tube location fitting I found that there was already another orifice tube in it, so I've been driving around for years with two orifice tubes in the front and the expansion...

Aww man that's too bad .. I'm canceling that order in that case. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm actually really looking forward to working on it again this weekend and seeing if I finally get the really cold air that everyone else talks about by moving the OT. The best I ever got was 68...

    Keeping interior cool

Ok I guess i'm having the system evacuated again this weekend so that I can move the OT to the correct location or rather now replace it with the variable OT that you recommended. Today I suddenly remembered that when I had my ac fixed that time and went to pick up my truck only the front air...

I just realized that the shop that fixed my ac a long time ago put the orifice tube on the condenser outlet right behind one of the headlights like on the pickup trucks, but my Tahoe is a C69 with rear air. Should the orifice tube be right before the evaporator line instead? Would this be the...

    Sanden 4440 install

I had not considered the cycling switch because I put a new one in when I did the entire job but it sounds like I should be using the one you're recommending anyway. I was thinking more like it might be a low refrigerant situation. When I was charging it for the first time, I received...

    Sanden 4440 install

Hi all, my Tahoe blows nice, cold air (not super cold) when I'm driving fast down the highway AND I if I have the rear air on max fan. If I turn off the rear airt then the front air starts to blow alot warmer, almost to the point of discomfort until I turn on the rear air on max again...

    Sanden 4440 install

I haven't added the last can yet but even before I finished adding the 48oz the line coming out of the accumulator felt very cold and sweaty already. I'm going to add the last can slowly while wetting the condenser and reving the engine to around 1500 rpms then.

    Sanden 4440 install

I actually also just replaced my fan clutch to a heavy duty acdelco, it's pretty loud now compared to the old one but that's ok. Also, my fan is the 11 blade plastic fan so it is moving alot of ai. So next I should rev the engine to 2500 rpm while adding the last 12oz bottle? At what point...

    Sanden 4440 install

Wow that's awesome! I wish my ac was cooling anywhere near discomfort for me. Here in south florida it's around 90 degrees today but it feels like 105 easily. When I finished putting in the 48oz I had the air on full blast in the front and in the rear. It was also on recirculate with very...

    Sanden 4440 install

I finally finished replacing practically everything in my hvac system except the two evaporators but I got it to cool in both the front and rear airs. My question now is the total refrigerant required. I have read that my Tahoe requires 64oz but since I now installed a parallel tube condenser...

    Sanden 4440 install

Yes I added 5oz to the accumulator and so I was accounting for 9oz of fresh oil plus 2oz of oil left in the rear ac lines and rear evaporator to bring it to a total of around 11oz. But now I have 15oz in there and my gauge pressures are at 70/250 in 90 degree ambient temperature. Can all of...

    Sanden 4440 install

Oh man do I feel like a dunce. I just took a look at the Sanden pdf link that was shared in this post and these compressors come with an actual oil drain plug. From watching a bunch of youtube videos on how to replace compressors I only tried to get the oil out of it through ports where the...

    Sanden 4440 install

Hi all, I too just installed a Sanden 4440 in my K1500 Tahoe but I'm not too comfortable with the oil situation. When I got my new Sanden I read that it comes preloaded with 4oz of oil but when I went to remove that oil nothing came out. It came brand new and well packaged, compressor...

    Keeping interior cool

Awesome. I just ordered a CSF parallel condenser as well. GM calls for 64oz of refrigenrant and 11oz of pag oil for these Tahoes. Do I have to modify these numbers to work with the new parallel flow setup? Or is the 64oz/11oz perfect just the same as with the old serpentine condenser?

You're the only one that I've found so far that's been using this setup. Not sure why every variable orifice tube maker says that it is only for non-rear ac trucks. I don't really see what the problem would be but I'm glad I found your post. I think I'll throw in a VOT as well. The Santech...

So it is possible to use a VOT Variable orifice tube in these trucks with rear AC? Mine is a 99 Tahoe with rear AC (C69) and I was looking into a variable OT but everything out there says for non-rear ac, i believe the designation is C60 trucks. Is your truck a Tahoe as well? If it has...
