Front backspacing 15" wheel 4" drop

I am having the same issues running 17x8 wheels with 5.05 backspacing. Ground the crap out of the control arms and they still hit at full lock or when I hit a bump while turning. Thought about a 15 or 17" wheel with less backspacing. Seriously considering 18s, don't like 20s so I will not go...

Front backspacing 15" wheel 4" drop

Dropped my 94 a few years ago, used Belltech springs and DJM spindles in the front. Been running 17x8 torque thrust in front with 5.05" backspacing and I had to trim the A arms. Figured this was due to the backspacing. I am now considering a set of Wheel Vintiques 42 series (C10 style rally)...

Rear Frame Bent - What are my options???

Agreed. I would find a doner truck and use the frame. The only way I would back half it is if I were going the pro street route ( narrowed frame and tubs)

    My truck is now dropped

Kinda hate that all the pics of each stage are gone. I posted each stage so those looking in the future could see the difference on the same truck.

    My truck is now dropped

Wow, I don't know what happened to my pics. It has a link instead of a pic and when I click the link it says I do not have permission to view the page? Weird, the pics were there a few days ago. Here is a pic of when I bought the truck. This is how she sits now.

    My truck is now dropped

Thank you, I think it looks much better myself. Looked weird with those huge wheels and tires.

    My truck is now dropped

Going from the 20" tires to the 17" was an improvement in ride, acceleration and braking. It also rides better after the drop IMO. Firmer ride which is to my liking, also less floaty which may be partially due to the new shocks.

    My truck is now dropped

Hello all, been asking questions for a while so figured I would post a few pics of the truck now that I have it dropped. Here it is as I bought it from the original owners grandson, 5 years since repaint and new gm crate engine. Leveling shackles and 275/55 /20 tires all around. I did not...

How much has it been lowered?

I am not the OP but just lowered my 94 ecsb. What are stock measurements from center hub to fender lip?

New guy, just want to see some static drops

Got mine on the ground, sitting at about 4.5/7 at the moment. DJM spindles and cut stock springs in front, Belltech flip with shackles in back. Have to clearance rear lips for my 275/55/17 tires on 17x9.5 wheel...it will rub. Will also have to trim gutters on LCA in front, the 17x8s touch a...

    Wheels for a 4/6 drop?

From the info I have found my 1/2 ton ECSB with small block has the same coil springs as are used in the big block trucs, Suburban and 3/4 ton trucks. If this info is correct I already have a 3/4 ton front spring. Belltech also uses the same part # for ECSB, 454 SS, 3/4 ton and...

    Belltech 2-3" springs/spacer

So what's the deal with the Belltech 2-3" spring? Putting parts together, I have a BT flip kit, BT notch and a DJM spindle. Looking at springs now and the BT has a spacer if you want a 2" spring, not sure if I like this idea. Is there a better option for a firm spring or should I just cut my...

If you were going to peice together a 4/7 or 5/8 drop

This is the route I will most likely go except I will probably cold cut the stock springs. My truck already has leveling shackles so when I flip it I can go 7 or 8 drop in rear or I can get a .5" lift shackle and be at 5.5 drop. Basically it will depend on how much I drop the front. Going to...

If you were going to peice together a 4/7 or 5/8 drop

I think your trucks looks bad ass at 3/5 with those 15" wheels, just saying

Help with wheel specs on a 4/6 djm drop

I cant give an absolute answer but can make a suggestion. If you know the backspacing of your current wheels and the diameter of your current tires, you should be able to find the answer. The tires you want to run are 29.3" diameter and 10.4" width, what size tire do you have on the truck now...

    Wheels for a 4/6 drop?

Makes me wonder if cut BBC springs in my SBC truck would give a firmer ride. Hmmmm, might know a boneyard with a set.

    Wheels for a 4/6 drop?

I am thinking about cutting my stock springs as I too like a firmer suspension. We used to cold cut springs to "tweak the ride height" years ago with good results. On the 1/2 ton spring, will it yield about 2" drop per coil? Edit to add, I intend to use a drop spindle with the cut stock spring.

If you were going to peice together a 4/7 or 5/8 drop

I like the way yours sits, mine is a 94 ecsb. Do you mind measuring your valence height? I assume you have a 2" spindle and 3" spring? How is the ride?

If you were going to peice together a 4/7 or 5/8 drop

Just curious. If you experienced guys were going to piece together a drop instead of buying a kit, which components from which manufacturer? I have read that Belltech has the best notch so I started to get a Belltech kit, then I read that their spindles move the tire out 1/2". Everyone seems to...

    Running different tire brands front/rear

My first lowered truck (early 80's)was a 69 GMC stepside. I ran L60s (275) in the back and G60s (225-235?) in the front. If I remember correctly the G60 was around 26" tall. As for the current project I just found that the Toyo Proxes has both a 275/55/17 and 235/65/17. Same sidewall, same OD...

    Running different tire brands front/rear

The two front tire sizes I mentioned were 235/55/17 which is a 27.2" tall tire, I felt this was too short and changed to a 235/60/17 which is 28.1" tall. I see people run this height tire in front often, how is this too short?

    Running different tire brands front/rear

Thank you so much for checking on that and providing a link. I actually just found a site "Performance plus tire" that allows the user to build a staggered wheel tire package with desired wheel size, offsets and tire sizes. Also changed my desired front tire size to 235/60/17 to avoid adding...
