    Different control arms?

I've actually heard decent things about Mevotech so . The issue though is everything I'm finding online looks the same as the Mevotech. The front bracket is definitely narrower than the back one and needs a narrower bushing. Seems all aftermarket control arms have bushing on both sides that...

    Different control arms?

I picked up a 1988 Chevy K1500 Silverado Sportside that needs work. Bought majority of the suspension and steering parts from RockAuto over the winter just to replace everything as I figured it was all destroyed by now. Went to test fit the new upper control arm and no go! The forward bushing...

Individual components or a full kit from PartsW

So I'm looking to buy the entire front end for my '88 K1500...control arms, ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, ect. I found several complete kits on eBay that are PartsW brand for decent prices. Just wondering if quality is junk and if I should spend more and buy individual components...

    Bed cross member replacement.

I have a 1988 Sportside that needs new bed supports. Does anyone know if the short bed fleetside rails fit the Sportside? Can't find rails specific for the Sportside

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

The power distribution block has no power, the purple wire does run down to the starter. The red/black wire in the first pic is running to the negative post on the battery...maybe that is the problem!! The black wire beside it is spliced into a red wire so I didn't question the red/black wire's...

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

Damn I'm stumped. With the key on what would be the next spot to check in the line for power. Just trying to figure out where it's stopped so I can replace the necessary wires. I'm going to do the Big 3 kit but not sure that will solve my issue. Are there fuses somewhere that if dead would cause...

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

First pic is a ground going from battery to accessory block, second is a ground strap and third is a ground from battery to a bolt on the intake manifold. I also found another ground strap near the front of the engine that connects to the frame.

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

Ok so where does this purple wire go? It comes from my starter into the wiring harness and then to the back of the motor. Figure the ignition but want to verify the other end. I bought a new battery, have power down to the starter but nothing anywhere else. I'll post pics of the cables I can...

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

Thank you for the pics! Without looking at the truck yet I know there are grounding issues now. I have a battery to engine block, thick gauge , but it runs to a point just under the air filter beside the tbi and one braided strap but that's it.

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

So I went to get battery cables finally and the guy at the store recommend I bring in the old ones to confirm I'm getting the right ones. I believe the cables on the truck are far from factory and I don't even think they were run right. Starting to believe a lot of shoddy work was done on this...

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

Thanks for the help. I'll be picking up a new battery and cables this week. My guess is these cables are at least 15-20 yrs old if not 32 so I'm ruling them all out before digging deeper into this. I wasn't sure if a fried ECM would/could kill all power everywhere or not which was my biggest...

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

No power at the junction box on any of the posts with key on or off. Looks like I'm going to check battery cable connections first and go from there. Thanks.

88 no power, complete power failure, help!

I have an 88 Chevy K1500. It sat for 2 years as money was saved and some minor work was done to the frame in that time. The truck ran when parked. Went to attempt to fire it up and nothing! Figured the battery was dead I put jumpers on it and still nothing! No reaction from the dash, interior...

Limited budget, under $5k...what to do?

The paint job was so unique that there was no mistaking it. The engine and tranny seemed ok but either the flex plate or starter is shot because getting it started is a pain in the ass. Gaskets like oil pan ect leak so have to focus on all of that once we get there. Started on the rear end...

Limited budget, under $5k...what to do?

I've been lurking here for a while and need some advice for my first post. Back in 1991-1992 I got my first truck, 1988 Chevy Sportside. I had to sell it several years later even though I really liked the truck. Well spring ahead decades and I saw my first truck and ended up buying it to redo...
