    Shackle Flip Flex Behavoir?

Can't say I know much about it. If you're open to the idea of adding air helper springs to the rear, they can help a lot to reduce squatting when you have a load. That way you can still run with the 6200# springs and keep your ride quality similar when empty. You can run the airlines to the...

    Lift Tire Size Conundrum...

Exactly. If you measure the distance between the bolt holes on the drop brackets, they drop the components 5-1/8" I measured before and after when I put the RCX lift in and it measured 5" increase on the same tires and I pretty much left the keys where they were at stock. This is it with...

    Wiper Cowl Screws

It looks like the long screws are used to go through numbers 2 and 4 as well as the panel... I'd guess only 1 per side for a grand total of 2 long screws. But of course the Quantity is labeled "As Required" so you might just have to look at the truck and figure it out. This picture seems to...

    Air bags

Ahh of course. That's a much simpler route if not quite as elegant for on-the-fly adjustment. Most paddle switches come with a built-in electric switch for the compressor when the air valve is open. although a tank is pretty sweet if you ever plan on putting a big-rig horn or a train horn in at...

    Air bags

Firestone and Airlift do install kits, and they also sell parts separately. You will need a pressure switch for the tank, so the compressor shuts off at a reasonable PSI (eg. firestone part number 9016) You will need a pressure gauge to check the pressure in the bags (almost anything will work...

Adjustable proportioning valve for ABS Delete

Did a very similar thing to my '97 for the exact same reason. Very useful mod and totally changed the feel of the truck! But seems odd. You double checked that the front brakes were bled properly, not drawing any air into the system through a tiny pinhole I'm assuming. Also, you checked your...

    Tail gate cables

Can't seem to find the forum back, but I swear there were guys who put the metal straps on their tailgates from the older trucks to replace the cables and they like them better. I put the cheapest tailgate cables on mine and they held up just fine for a few years now.

    Dual Exhaust Question

I don't know that anyone can be sure if there SHOULD be a cross-over or not. There are wayyy too many varying opinions and even more false information out there when it comes to ideal exhaust setups. I did try a couple different setups with my dual exhaust however. I was running 2.5" pipe from...

    BRAKE BLEED HELP

Fair Enough. However, i would argue that given that glycol-based fluids absorb moisture from the environment (not direct exposure to water) at a rate of 2-3% per year i wouldn't worry about 20 minutes. Especially given that the DOT recommends a change only after the boiling point drops to that...

    BRAKE BLEED HELP

Everyone has a different procedure for bleeding brakes it seems. some pump the pedal a few times and then crack the bleeders, some will swear that that method is horrible, as it pulverizes any amount of air bubbles making them harder to get out. I've done hundreds of brake bleeds in the past...

GMT 400 front end rebuild + lift kit

It's definitely do-able by yourself. The key is to take it slow and just do it right. If it's not a panic to get it back on the road, it's a great learner project. It's mostly Re/Re job, but adding a couple brackets. When Doing your entire front end, including cam washers and LCA Bushings...

GMT 400 front end rebuild + lift kit

There is a good thread with lots of info for the ball joints on this page: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/how-to-replace-ball-joints.8162/ As far as the lift goes, I did mine (RCX, not superlift... but same concept) without the use of a lift. I did it in a shop with air tools, etc. but I...

Exhaust on my LQ4 swap, use flex pipes or not?

As long as the solid system is hung (hanged?) correctly a solid pipe won't hurt anything.

    Steering slack

If I'm not mistaken, "steering coupler" refers to the part (typically on rack and pinion setups) that connects the steering column to the wheels. So in this case, the steering coupler and the steering box would be the same thing. (someone please correct me if i'm wrong) There is a way to adjust...

    Camber cam bolts......

Normally, "non-greaseable" parts come with grease already in them. What I suggest to most people, is if they grease their stuff regularly, grease-able ones are great. but for someone like me who isn't 100% up-to-date with servicing my truck, greaseless seems to last just as long.

    LED headlight bulbs

I had a similar problem with my truck. I have a "hi-beam mod" where the low beams are wired with a relay to stay on with the high beams. the relay was faulty and was causing the lights to kind of "half" come one for periods of times. i would suggest trying a new relay. even if you don't have...

    89 c2500 lift question

The only difference between the rough country 4" and the 6" is the "add-a-leafs' in the rear springs. Note the last step of the rough country lift is to adjust the keys until the truck sits level. you can purchase the add-a-leafs from amazon or otherwise (even a different brand) and adjust the...

Rear blocks to lift '98 1500???

Absolutely nothing wrong with blocks. I'm actually running blocks myself. I just prefer a higher spring rather than blocking it if you can. It just 'feels' like a cleaner install to me. You are right about the stiffer ride though... I hadn't really considered that. If you plan on towing...

Rear blocks to lift '98 1500???

Haven't done anything myself, but i am aware of many companies that do add-a-leafs as well as blocks. skyjacker comes to mind. Add-a-leafs usually add 1-2 inches of height, and blocks are obviously just the height that you buy them at. In my opinion, add-a-leafs are a cleaner look, but blocks...

Replaced starter and created a problem

check under your hood for blown ignition fuse. There's 2 large 'maxi' fuses labeled IGN-A and IGN-B as well as a regular ATM fuse labeled IGN. i don't know off hand what the fuses do, but it is more than likely that one of them was blown when you arced the wires.

    Parking Brake Adjust

Hey Brad, as far as i know there is no adjustment for the park brake cable unless it is on the pedal itself. Some companies sell something called a "brake cable adjuster" designed to get eliminate that slack for really cheap (Dorman number 03006 at my local parts store for like $5). they simply...

    Newbie Wheel Question

Offset refers to how far much "in or out" the mount surface is from the center of the rim, measured in millimeters. The higher the number, the further the bolt surface is to the outside of the rim. (negative offset sticks out more, positive is more inset). i believe stock on these trucks is...
