Added a little 200w under-seat subwoofer. It’s a far cry from the systems I used to run when I was younger, but just gives that little bit of thump that was missing. Also finally bit the bullet and replaced the factory original windshield. Amazing to be able to see in sunny weather now haha.

Hood insulation was disgusting and partially mouse-eaten from when the truck sat for so long, so finally got around to trashing it. Also contemplating a remote mount oil filter to avoid draining onto the front driveshaft every time.

Trans started acting up when at idle in gear. Felt like the TCC was trying to engage intermittently. Never stalled, but rpm would drop and could feel something wasn’t right. Verified the fluid level was correct, so dropped the pan and changed out the TCC solenoid. Went for a test drive and so...

Scored some brand new tires on steelies for a good deal. Guy bought a base 2020 Sierra and drove it straight to the tire shop. For anyone wondering, 2019+ offset the wheels out slightly more to fit bigger brakes, but they still fit OBS the same as the 1999-2018 6-lug wheels a lot of guys swap to.

Saw this cheap cup holder/console and bought it on a whim. Shaved the bottom flat with an angle grinder, put some Velcro on to keep it in place, and painted it as close a match as I could find to the rest of the trim.

Pretty much buttoned up for now. Did new rear brakes, new front shocks, and replaced header gaskets with good fel-pro ones. 4x4 woes turned out to be a faulty position switch on the transfer case. Runs like a top now, and for the first time I can remember, everything works, and there are no...

Took the old girl into the mountains camping for a few days. Noticeable increase in power above 2500 rpm with the headers & y-pipe.

New CV axles up front. Old sway bar end link sheared when I took it off, so I ended up fabricating a temporary one out of some rod I had laying around. New end links and new shocks on the way.

Waiting on parts, did a few small things. Mocked up the new wheels. With some 285’s I think they will look good. Also painted underneath all the wheel arch chrome trim, and redid the trailer wiring.

And guess what - turns out it broke a CV joint in the front trying to turn back into the garage when it was locked in 4x4. And the hits just keep on coming.

Narrowed it down to the actuator on the front diff. My theory is it was in 4x4 (engaged) when the transfer case came out, but when it got reinstalled and first key-on, for some reason the actuator tried to engage but already was fully extended. So currently, any time it has key-on power, it...

    No 2WD?

Yes exactly. 4x4 Light is on when the lever is in 2Hi, and front drive shaft is still engaged.

    No 2WD?

Hi folks. Need some advice. So I recently had the transmission (4L60/700r4) and transfer case (NP241) out of my truck to do the rear main seal. Now it’s all back together, verified all the wiring is correct, and the shift linkage is adjusted correctly. The truck has also previously been swapped...

So I’m stumped and need help folks. Got the exhaust finished up and went for a test drive. Issue is, it won’t shift into 2WD. 4Hi, 4Lo, and neutral on the transfer case all work fine. I’ve double checked the linkage and all the wiring. When the transfer case lever is in 2WD, it acts like it’s...

Good to know, I’ll keep that in the back of my mind. Almost everything is back together, just need to route a new 3” exhaust aft of the y-pipe. Trans, transfer case, and driveshafts with new u-joints went in yesterday. Had to heat up the y-pipe and bend the drivers side tube about 1/2 an inch...

Headers installed. No clearance issues. Plenty of room for plug wires. Thick flanges, decent welds, all stainless. Hardware and gaskets that came with them are crap, will see how long they last. But for $160 CAD shipped I’m not complaining. Did new plugs too, because it looks like the headers...

Trans back on the jack ready to go in. Couldn’t resist stripping the rust off and painting the crossmember, trans mount, front drive shaft while they were out. Transfer case is re-sealed and back together. Still waiting on the correct u-joints in the mail.

Trans was nasty. In an ideal world it would be off the the shop for a rebuild, but justifying $ for that to the wife was a non-starter. So to make myself feel better I spent an hour scrubbing it spotless before it went back in. Because if it’s clean, it’ll be happier, right?

Had a whoopsie moment with the jack. Trans uninstalled itself via the gravity method. Rear main seal itself was a 5 min job, just 5 hours of work to get at it.

New Y-pipe arrived from Rock Auto. For the price, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that it’s mandrel bent, has an O2 sensor bung, is stamped made in Canada, and doesn’t appear to have been welded by a trained monkey.

Sorry if I missed if you mentioned, but how did you wire the converter lockup with the sniper? Is the original computer still controlling it?
