    93 K2500 Suburban 454 Holley Sniper Upgrade

Still running well. One trick to get it to go into closed loop/learning is I found a video where the default Holley uses the correction tables to prevent learning. Here is the video I found explaining what helped me get it in closed loop more.

    93 K2500 Suburban 454 Holley Sniper Upgrade

It was $3000 when I had it running on the first cam. Then added another cam and lifters, and oil and more oil, so let's just round up to 500. Then 3800 in the rebuild, then more tools as I needed the square socket to get oil pump adapter off to dig out the oil bypass basket the builder didn't...

What Wire to use to install a security toggle switch

Could also rewire the starter with a remote solenoid to the battery or somewhere hidden, that way you don't have a hot wire to the starter 100% of the time, the starter main wire only hot when cranking (race cars do this so they don't have a hot wire running the length of the car from a battery...

What Wire to use to install a security toggle switch

Ground based relays, less wires hot to deal with if they chafe and hit metal. Ie, put a ground interrupt on the fuel pump relay is an easy one. If you want to be cleverer, wire up a timer based relay so it runs for 5 seconds only then trips, but they are more expensive than a one wire toggle...

    Carbureted vortec heads

I'd verify fuel pressure first. Run a wideband O2 guage? It runs, so there is some spark and some fuel and air and compression? Open the hood at night in darkness, are there sparks from plug wires arching out?

    1990 Chevy k3500 454 7.4 TBI 4x4

Manual trans? If 4L80E trans, I'd be tempted to spend the bucks and get a Holley terminator with the built in trans controller and GM trans harness adapter so you can control it all. Pulling the heads? My 93 had rotators in every single valve spring, so replace those. I run comp 911 springs...

Low budget build without LS Swap

Install the '98/4L80 combo with the 80 supported computer. Sell the other 350's and 60E and all other parts to fund 14 bolt 8 lug conversion?

    Rough acceleration

Fuel pressure, check the fuel pressure. I know, its a giant pita, but it is the only way. And not only that, fuel pressure at idle, but also under load. It's almost easier to just upgrade the fuel pump to a better one than rig the pressure tester up to only then upgrade the fuel pump and clean...

1994 voltage loss from engine to interior

If GM did the same thing they did with the G body cars, everything runs through the ignition switch, which can wear out and cause low voltage. Have fun replacing that if its in the column...

    Cheap Stereo '93 Suburban

Circa 2019 Build: $50 Soundstream VR-345B head unit, $30 NVX backup camera, $50 CerwinVega 4x6 2 way in dash powered off the head unit. Kicker 4x6 sounded better in my other burb. Might get the Kappa plates sometime. $120 2 ch Soundstream amp with 8 inch sub combo (sounded terrible and no bass...

I like where you put the coil, I'll move mine there. I have mine over where the cruise control module was.

Rebuilding an engine - what precision instruments to do measurements

Sell it all as is. If you want a 6.0L, find another one that doesn't have a spun bearing.

    Octane requirement?

FWIW, I ran 91/92 or whatever I could get in my boosted cars at altitude that all wanted premium fuel, they all ran fine. I did run down to Denver and get GT100 from a sunoco station from time to time, I think I was in Lakewood, it was only $4 a gallon back then...

    Octane requirement?

Lolz, I lived there at 7500 ft and drove up to Mt Evans and all around the front range having fun. I had an '88 TBI Sierra 5 speed with 3.73's that barely could make it up that grade from Denver to Evergreen on a hot summer day. Sold the 88 (wish I kept it now) I bought a new 2004 WRX wagon...

    Octane requirement?

I'd be surprised a stock 93 TBI truck can have enough power to do the speed limit up I-70 from Denver by Genesee...

    Octane requirement?

30 year old TBI is hardly modern fuel injection, more like spray and pray electronic carb.

    Octane requirement?

TBI engines have minimal timing anyways. It'll be fine. Octane is just a rating of resistance to detonation. Raise your hand if you lived at 7500 ft, as in my place was at 7500 ft and I'd drive to the resorts to snowboard every chance I could. It'll run rich most likely to start with anyways.

    Octane requirement?

I lived at 7500 ft up in Evergreen CO for a couple years. A stock 93 454 will be absolutely so slow. Run the cheapest, there is hardly any oxygen at that altitude anyways. The DA at Bandimere routinely hit 10,000 ft in the summer and that was 2000 ft lower. Try driving to the top of MT Evans at...

Strange clicking from passenger side dash area

You can replace it, it is next to impossible to get all 3 screws back in, I managed 2 back in, and so far so good. I removed the glovebox liner to get more light down there.

    Stock Gen V 454 upgrades?

TBI era is literally the worst starting point to upgrade, as everything but the 4 bolt block needs upgrading. Tiny heads, no compression, poor fuel injection, computer controlled ignition timing, terrible intake manifold, enough sensors required to make it annoying to wire up. My 93 K2500 454...

92 k1500 with 4.3 TBI 5 speed stutters and no top end power.

Absolutely check fuel pressure at idle and under load first. These are simple EFI setups, but still need the basics, fuel air spark and compression. If I had to just throw parts at it without diagnosing, I'd upgrade the fuel pump to a vortec one.

Gen V with full trunion/tip roller rockers with cut down polylocks to clear stock covers. Lost the tonawando wording so I sanded and painted them black.

4.3 to 383 Blueprint Sniper EFI

I'm always tuning my base fueling to try to get it just right. I have my closed loop comp limits at 10%. When it's right you can just stomp the pedal and it doesn't have to try to correct as much for the weather.

Etec aluminum heads vs stock vortec heads

Don't vortecs need screw in studs and milled down the spring pockets so they don't bind up on a cam over 450 or so lift? They had an EngineMasters episode on motortrend on upgrading those heads.

    L29 454 Improving Airflow

Cam intake headers and tune NA only you could hit 425 hp / 500 tq at the crank on the L29 with a 230 236 cam. Slap that cam in it, valve springs, big fuel pump, add blower, free up exhaust, should make 500hp/600tq I'd think easy enough.
