    Upgrade to intermittent wipers?

Thanks! It's sounding like more trouble than it's worth for right now, but I'll keep an eye out for the parts. At least I'm comfortable and handy with electrical work... I have to be, my other car is an MGB.

    Upgrade to intermittent wipers?

Right, sorry, forgot to mention that... I get so used to forums where I'm an old-timer that I forget I'm a noob here. Thanks for the info. I'll do a little junkyard-diving when I can; these don't show up in junkyards too often around here, which I take as a good sign, except when I need parts.

    Upgrade to intermittent wipers?

For the most part, I love my bare-bones truck. Crank windows, manual locks, rubber floors... wouldn't change any of it. But one thing I do miss, especially in Oregon in the springtime: intermittent wipers. Flicking them on and off manually every few seconds is getting really old. Is that an...

New guy, old Forest Service truck

Yep, I used to work for a place that had a shop truck (C20 maybe?) about that old, so it was probably the same gearbox. That non-hydraulic clutch was a workout. No power steering or brakes, either. Worse, this particular truck had such rusty seat tracks that you couldn't adjust it; half the guys...

    Re-covered my bench seat

When I got my truck, the interior was... not great. It was filthy, stank of smoke, and the seat was covered by one of those nasty Wal-Mart seat covers. I spent a whole day scrubbing all the plastic clean, and discovered that it was all actually in OK shape, give or take a few CB mounting holes...

New guy, old Forest Service truck

Probably the same. I think they only made the one 3+granny gearbox. I'm getting used to it, but I really wish there was a gear between 1st and 2nd, it's a huge jump. Makes it hard to be smooth in traffic. The heavy clutch doesn't bother me much; my other car is a 1971 MGB, and I'm not sure this...

New guy, old Forest Service truck

It's a Muncie SM465. I've seen them in 3/4 ton diesels before, but never a 1/2 ton V6. It might have been a special order for the Forest Service. It's a beast to drive in traffic, let me tell you...

New guy, old Forest Service truck

Hey all, checking in from Portland, OR. Just bought a well-used '89 K1500 a few days ago. It's a former USDA Forest Service truck, in the classic toothpaste-green with a tan interior. 4.3 V6, 4 speed granny manual, just under 200,000 miles. Runs and drives great! Pics: Plans are to fix...
