spraying rear diff oil after new driveshaft

You're in GR, MI, or so it appears. I know a guy in Saginaw who does rear-ends and transmissions in his garage in his retirement. He's worked on two rear ends and a TH400 for me, but his time is tight. I'm guessing you prefer a quick turn-around. There's got to be some local talent you can...

    Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

I just checked, and Car Scanner appears to show me the Suburban's ATF temp. It displayed it as 66F, which is ambient. I haven't driven the truck since yesterday so "66F" makes sense, but it would be nice to see it actually changing / updating.

    Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

I generally use the "Car Scanner" iPhone app with the InfoCar adapter to read / monitor / graph / log data from our 2008 Toyota. I paid the $7 fee (one-time) for all the Car Scanner bells and whistles, although for less money they'll offer abbreviated services. I haven't yet tried Car Scanner...

    Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

I was able to read a number of parameters ("PIDs") w/o any specific "year" purchase, although there are evidently some parameters which require one. I was using DashCommand on my iPhone (in the image below, it's no longer connected to my Suburban but the GUI is shown) and the InfoCar interface...

    Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

It looks like I can, or "could" if I pay for it, with DashCommand. I just checked with DashCommand on my iPhone and the InfoCar adapter on my 1998 L31 Suburban.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't taken a turn into a ditch along the way. Somebody, please post about your cat. I already posted about Muffin (cat) in another thread so I can't put that story here.

    Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

Some Prius provider has made recommendations for Bluetooth interfaces, I followed their advice but YMMV. They discuss them here: https://priusapp.com/obd.html I bought the one from InfoCar via Amazon, currently about $39.

    New guy new truck

I love the look of the quad headlights but with age the adjusters on them can become "difficult" to "unusable". This topic was covered on GMT400 recently, with some details given on improving / repairing them. I don't have the link handy, but consider yourself advised. If you need that...

    Arteb Headlights / Taillights End-of-Life (?)

Headlights and Shipping - Challenges with Breakage: As posted here earlier (see posts from @0xDEADBEEF), as well as in email conversations I've had with other buyers, we've had some breakage problems this year, worse then in prior years. One recent buyer was greeted with this catastrophe...

    Acquiring Arteb Brazil GMT400 taillights

Arteb taillight circuit board connectors: This topic's been covered before but here's an update as of today Apr16, 2024. The Arteb circuit boards utilize a 5-wire connector. Suitable mating connectors can be built from scratch, e.g., using parts from Delphi / APTIV which can be purchased from...

NHTSA decoder says Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: Class 1D: 5,001 - 6,000 lb (2,268 - 2,722 kg) Meanwhile, http://www.free-vin-decoder.com says: BRAKE SYSTEM,VACUUM POWER DISC, DRUM (ROTOR=11.86X1.04, REAR BRAKE SHOE=11X2) It also lists these "export" specific RPO codes for your VIN...

    Brake problems, f*** EU regulation

Piston diameter on the low end calipers is ~63mm / 2.5”, give yours a check. The JB5/JB6 brakes use a 76mm / 3” piston. Heavier duty systems used 80mm or 86mm piston calipers. Different boosters and MCs were used too, but I won’t discuss. Others may.

Franken-Tahoe? Found for sale in Brazil, not sure what it is... or was

Yes, it’s very interesting. As reported some years ago, elsewhere on GMT400 by a member from South America, the version sold in South America is actually based on a different chassis and powertrain. The body and trim is identical, or at least very similar in many ways, but the rest of the...

Really wish ppl would stop bringing me trucks with hydraulic fluid in trans

I seem to remember a recommendation to use ATF in certain manual transmissions to make (allow?) them to shift easier in cold weather. I can't remember which friend's vehicle once had this issue, but that was the solution promoted by... the dealer, I would guess. I'm thinking it was a...

Back when my parents (and kids, 2B & 2G) still technically lived "on the farm", in the original farm house (dated to 1860s), we had a cat named Muffin. Muffin was a smart cat, literally born and raised on the University of Illinois campus. She was an indoor / outdoor cat. She could get along...

    Abs problem

This can happen if, e.g., either or both axle seals are leaking and any of the brake shoes get oily. The drum brakes tend to grab, then. There may be other reasons. Others may comment. Since you've got a K2500 I'll assume you have the 11" drum brakes on the rear.

    No Power to AC Compressor

Pardon me for asking, but how did you verify the pressure is adequate? Now, regarding how to energize the AC compressor clutch, if you: - jumper the connection (as you say) at the low-pressure switch, and - the controls in the cab are set w/ the AC switch depressed (or any other position...

    No Power to AC Compressor

OK, so check the switch as I suggested, let's see if it's sane. Have you verified the system pressures with a gauge set? Jumping the relay isn't a good idea except as a short test, you can force the compressor to run on a low charge and that's Not Good.

    No Power to AC Compressor

Exactly what "issue" are you having? You mentioned the low pressure switch, so going with that... Measure the voltage across the low pressure switch. It should be zero if (a) the AC is off and (b) the system has adequate charge and pressure to close the switch. Alternatively, disconnect the...

    Abs problem

At this point I think one ought to consider whether the better approach is to simply disable the ABS system to eliminate the abnormal braking symptoms and move-on. Abs problem

One other thing: @Feral peasant has a K2500. I noticed the K2500 hubs have threaded holes. I wonder if the bolts come in from the back side of the K2500 knuckle (they come in from the front on the K1500, as shown in the video). If so it means the half-shafts might block access to the head...
