    Battery Testers.

Threw another used battery I had on my tractor in the truck. Left the lights on for an hour, let it sit for 45 minutes and it fired right up.

    Battery Testers.

The battery in my truck was bulging at the ends. I fully charged the battery and then left the high beams on for 1 hour. I then turned them off for an hour and then tried to start my truck. It slowly turned over 2 or 3 times and that was that. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out...

    Vortec 5.7l oil consumption.

I agree 100%. But if I would have known what I know now I would have ran full synthetic and done oil changes at 5,000 miles. I bought the vehicle with 18,000 miles on it and I'm sure I could have got more than 131,000 miles on it. But then if Government Motors would have let the customers...

Also a Technical Service Bulletin if I remember correctly so if you weren't looking for it you're not going to be aware of it.

What year Envoy??? EDIT: Crap, I was thinking Acadia, not Envoy. I also edited my post to show 3.6L, not 3.5L.

    Vortec 5.7l oil consumption.

Easy to err on the side of caution and spend the extra bucks with one small personal vehicle. If you had that mentality with a fleet of semis or excavation equipment you'd be bankrupt in a short time. There is a very real need for oil analysis in this world. It's also used for power steering...

    Vortec 5.7l oil consumption.

You may want to re-think that one. The wife's 2012 3.6L Traverse was kicked to the curb at 131,000 miles with the dreaded timing chain stretch issue they're known for. I was changing oil (semi-synthetic) at the stealership when there was 20-30 percent life left on the OLM. No short trips...

    Daily truck pics

Ya, no kiddin'. Chuck a piece of moldy chipboard under there if you have any pride whatsoever. Pretty sure one piece will somehow hold 40 gallons of 5w-30 and Caitlyn Jenner fluid. It did under my old Bonneville.

    Newbie Check-in and Question

Very happy to see "LS swap!" not mentioned! Hell yes it's worth saving. That's a clean looking rig I wouldn't be afraid to drop some $ into.

    Custom Dash / Accessories - 3D Printed

Soft plastic interior door handles for the 88-94 would be a good one. A lot of room for improvement there. I just close my door by pulling from the outside and pulling my hand in. Haven't slammed my hand in the four years I've been doing it.

    2004 Express 3500 Axle Swap

I have the same exact story as you! I showed up to buy what I thought would be a 14 bolt out of a 2003 3500 Express Van. He was only asking $125 for it so I grabbed it anyways. It has disk brakes and the width is wider bringing the rear wheels out to be the same width as the fronts unlike the...

Nowhere in my post did I use the technical term "bigass". .030" max.

I've always done it in case an air pocket develops right under the thermostat keeping it from opening.

    Thermostats

Does anyone ever drill a small hole in their thermostats? I have in the past on other vehicles. I also run cardboard in front of my radiator when the temp drops. Beer case cardboard seems to work the best for whatever reason.

    Engine oil cooler delete question

I wouldn't cross the street if it meant I didn't have to stock "horizontal filters" for the foreseeable future. Who gives a rats a$$.

You must have been running 91-93 pump gas then? It would be interesting to see what E-85 would do on a boosted tow rig like that. Not that you'd come out ahead cost wise but could probably dial in a lot more spark during lower rpm/high boost conditions I'd imagine. So your heater core must...

I stopped reading when I got to exactly here, your first comment. Didn't you give more than one incorrect definition of what HP even is up top here? Now you're telling me what it is after I'm the first one to actually post what HP is? Not that there aren't many others here that know also...

    97 K3500 CC 454 project

Sounds like a winner winner chicken dinner to me. Hell, you could spend $1,000 on less than two grocery carts nowadays. Also, doesn't look like you live in the heart of the rust belt....

Funny you both agree on something that is incorrectamundo. Horsepower = Torque x RPM / 5,252 It's also why torque and HP always cross at 5,252 RPM

Well then I'd like to thank you both for providing an example of why the torque vs. hp argument is pointless to have with most people.:waytogo:
