LS exhaust manifold repair bracket, can only find one side

I have rear exhaust manifold bolts broke on each side of my 6.0 LS motor. I can find Dorman 917-107 (and other manufacturers) for front right/rear left but I cannot find the opposite side anywhere online. I'm trying to order one of each as enticement to get my mechanic to try to replace the...

    Conventional vs Synthetic Oil Debate

I use Havoline full synthetic in both my GM 6.0's & change every 5k to 6k (5k is the goal sometimes I just can't get to it). 2013 van is Dexos specified. Approximately 280k miles and climbing quickly (oil change every 3-4 weeks). I work it like a free mule. No loss of power, smoking, oil...

How to ID which A/C compressor

Hi, this isn't exactly GMT400 but this is my fav truck forum with lots of experienced/informed members. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 with 6.0 gas motor. The A/C compressor took a dump and when I look it up I find two different units listed. One is H6 or HU6 and the other is 10S17F. Is there an...

Need stock ECM for 99 K3500

I know that replacing the ECM with the 411/LS ECM is popular on here so I wanted to see if anyone has a stock ECM that fits the 99 model year lying around that I can buy or (preferably) borrow to test in my truck. If it turns out to be the problem I'd gladly buy it, if not I could return it...

    Worth upgrading to GMT800?

LOL, I ain't scared! I love the 6.0 motor, I have it in my 2013 Express 3500 as well. With the 6 speed and hwy gears the van gets 14-15 mpg running 80 - 85 while full of passengers. The K2500 though it runs great SUCKS gas.

    Worth upgrading to GMT800?

I have a 99 K3500 DRW CCLB 7.4 and an 01 K2500 ECSB 6.0. I much prefer the interior and comfort features and factory tow mode of the 01 even though both are leather, and COP vs distributor. However, even though the 99 is 7.4 with 4:56 gears and the 01 is 6.0/3:73, the 01 doesn't get any better...

    Trailer plugs

i recently had this same issue on my Yoder Toter 15 passenger van. I highly recommend going with the Hopkins Endurance model instead of this one. It is much stronger and better built but functionally the same. FYI the Endurance model will fit in the same bracket when (not if) you break the...

PRNDL & 4WD fuses blowing, went into limp mode. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply but that's what he's been doing with no luck. ETA: I think it's the same fuse. It's been a long time since I've seen the truck but I believe it's fuse #20 as you mentioned. The guy working on it says he's traced pretty much every harness.

PRNDL & 4WD fuses blowing, went into limp mode. Any ideas?

Follow up on this. Here it is almost a year later and the truck is still in the shop. It is at a tranny shop (2 hours from my house) per the recommendation of the local shop owner, who personally knows the tranny shop guys and said they're good at fixing issues such as this. He works on it when...

PRNDL & 4WD fuses blowing, went into limp mode. Any ideas?

99 K3500 CC LB 7.4L. I was driving this morning in heavy rain, running 55-60, when suddenly it acted like it went into passing gear. I lifted the throttle a bit but it never shifted back. I noticed the tach, speedo and gear selector indicator light all stopped working. I stopped and checked...

    99 K3500 7.4 missing under load

I'm planning to replace injectors, FPR, base intake gasket etc later on. I've read a lot about the OE injector problems and figured it would be good to preempt those issues. Doing the major tuneup first. The truck runs good other than under heavy load, and gets better MPG than the 94 2wd CCLB...

    Dual battery issues

Thank you. It's not worth the expense of two batteries at the present time but now I know what I need to do to make it work.

AC Delco or Standard Motor Products ignition parts?

This guy owns the store and works on vehicles among other things so I tend to trust him - but then I know he is motivated by selling! I'm sure either brand would do the job but I hoped experience with these particular trucks would help me choose the best. Anymore I'd rather spend the money on...

Replacing Vortec fuel pump, pulling bed

My local shop charged $100 to install the pump I bought. Well worth it IMO. He lifted the bed rather than trying to drop the tank straps. I bought a Carter pump which he said is a good brand.

    Dual battery issues

I did a Google search after my last post and found this article: https://caravanchronicles.com/guides/how-to-connect-two-batteries-in-parallel/ I want extra starting capacity, not trying to run an inverter or something and charge via the alternator so according to this I have two problems...

    Dual battery issues

I've read about an isolator that can be used but also read it's not absolutely necessary. One thing I didn't mention is that the two batteries are rated at different cold cranking amps, not sure if that makes a difference. I am not positive they load tested the battery either, they tend to...

    Dual battery issues

My 99 K3500 came with dual batteries. It had a few wiring problems (loose terminals, blown trailer brake controller, trailer plug full of mud) all of which I have fixed. After fixing those issues it began draining the batteries so I disconnected the aux battery and under-hood light and the...

AC Delco or Standard Motor Products ignition parts?

I'm going to do a complete tuneup on my 99 K3500 7.4L and was wondering what brand to go with. I'm going to use AC Delco double platinum plugs plus wires, cap, rotor and coil. My local auto parts store said their SMP ignition products were better than AC Delco (of course) but thought I'd ask as...

    99 K3500 7.4 missing under load

Hello, new member first post. I have a 99 K3500 crew cab dually with the 7.4 Vortec and 4:56 gears. It only has 88000 miles but was obviously worked hard as a farm truck. It runs good but when towing a heavy trailer I am getting a dead miss/cutting out. I just had a new Carter fuel pump & fuel...
