    L29 Coil near plug questions

Ok thanks. I figured they'd work, I also thought about using the same ones that the L21 and 8.1 used as their part numbers cross reference. Out of curiousity, will 22 gauge wire work ok for the new coil harness from the plugs into the PCM?

    L29 Coil near plug questions

Thanks, that's a great idea! I'd never thought about stacking them. Which coils did you use? Any LS type coil works, right?

    L29 Coil near plug questions

These are the L21 valve covers, I don't see any way to make it work short of moving the coils.

    L29 Coil near plug questions

That's what i was afraid of. I wonder if a cold air intake would work since it comes straight off of the throttle body.

    L29 Coil near plug questions

As soon as my engine is back from the machine shop I'm planning on tackling the 0411 swap and coil near plug on my 99 big block. I've got a set of L21 valve covers and without having the engine to mock it up, it looks like (from pictures) the bottom of the resonator is going to interfere with...

    12200411 PCM swap for 1996 to 2000 GMT400 trucks

PM'd you also, needing pinouts for my 99 K2500 Suburban/454/4L80. I'll also be doing a coil near plug swap at the same time. Email is [email protected], thank you

    L29 CNP conversion

While the engine is out of my K2500 Suburban getting ready to be rebuilt I've been thinking about doing a coil near plug conversion. I know the L21 came with CNP from the factory and I've managed to find a set of L21 valve covers. I know nothing about wiring and in order to do this I'd need to...

    99 454 Running bad

I've been chasing a similar misfire on my 99 454 K2500 Suburban, mine are on 3 and 4. Did all of the things you did except replacing lifters. Pulled 3 and 4 injectors to test and see if they were working right and they were. Compression is good. If I had hair, I'd be pulling it out.

    Vortec big block questions

Engine is already out though. It was taken out to make it easier to replace the flexplate, oil pan gasket, and drill out/helicoil the broken starter bolt. The 2 misfires were the issue I was chasing prior to pulling it but I had to stop because the starter misalignment issue needed to be...

    Vortec big block questions

Well it looks like I'm going to send the block to the machine shop. I had planned on drilling out a broken starter bolt and putting in a helicoil today but the previous owner screwed it up so bad I can't get the drill bit in straight. Maybe it's time to just have it rebuilt, have the heads...

    Vortec big block questions

So if everything else is good, my most likely cause of the 2 misfires will be valves?

    Vortec big block questions

1-135; 3-125; 5-145; 7-145; 2-135; 4-145; 6-130; 8-130 I checked, double checked, and checked the plug wires again for that. Don't know the accuracy of the tester or if it's been tested itself. Balancer is getting replaced because the rubber is dry rotted and pieces are missing, which is odd...

    Vortec big block questions

I've been working on my 99 K2500 Suburban off and on for about a year now. When I bought it, the previous owner had broken a starter bolt in the block. That screwed up the flexplate. Since that needed to be replaced, the starter bolt needed to be drilled out and retapped/helicoiled, the oil pan...

    454 Harmonic Balancer

I'd at least check the part numbers for both, see if there's a difference.

L29 454 MPFI Spider Conversion Questions

Replace the regulator while you're in there. I'd consider doing the lower intake gaskets too, they're known to leak. As for replacement injectors, go with the Bosch on 5-0s website or you can Google the part number. I've seen them on Amazon occasionally for less. When you replace the injectors...

454 Vortec P0300 Multiple cylinder misfire code. Troubleshooting and solution.

I'm chasing a similar issue on my 99 Suburban. Bought it last summer and it was in terrible condition, had multiple misfires. Figured I'd start with new injectors, new distributor, plugs, new ignition, new ICM, fuel pressure regulator, still didn't fix it. Kept showing misfires on 3 and 4...

    L29 removal questions

So far I've got most of the sensors disconnected. Upper intake and distributor cap/rotor/wires are off as I've been chasing down a miss and testing the injectors. I also bought a new injector harness since the old one was pretty crusty. I'm thinking about removing the oil cooler lines and...

    L29 removal questions

I know there's a lot involved in pulling the engine, but pulling the diff seems like it would be a pain too. What about replacing the flexplate though?

    L29 removal questions

So I've been working on my 99 K2500 for a few months off and on, mainly off since winter hit and I can only work outside. I had been tracking down a miss, pulled the injectors and tested them, all of which seem to be working and firing fine. Before all of this happened the starter had been...

    Flexplate replacement

$500 doesn't sound too bad. If it was as simple as just sliding it back I'd be a little more enthusiastic. Of course, I've still got to get that bolt hole fixed before I can get a new starter, which is another headache.

    Flexplate replacement

No dust cover. Previous owner removed that too. Like I said, I've never done this before, seemed like a practical way to go since others had done it with 4L60's. I didn't realize there were that many differences between the 60 and 80.
