    4 Hi Headlight Mod

Did this mod today with a relay and some wiring leftover from my Viper install. Everything needed is right at the fuse panel which made things quick and easy. Definitely worth while!

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

Alternator died about a week ago, replaced with new (not reman) AC Delco professional. Charging properly. No effect on starting issue. Inspected starter and from what I researched it was the 24-year old OE Delco Remy. Pinion gear had some serious wear. Replaced with new (not reman) AC Delco...

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

Is there a way to test it? Maybe I should pull the starter and inspect it...

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

It seems to be engine temp related, last few days have been relatively cold here, stumble hasn't occurred once...

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

I recently pulled the distributor as part of the intake gasket job and didn’t see any wear on the gears. Didn’t check for play in the shaft though. I’ll definitely keep it in mind, thanks

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

1997 K1500 pickup, 5.7 Vortec, 66k miles. Very intermittent stumble on start up. When it does occur, the starter sounds high pitched, almost like its turning over faster than normal. The engine stumbles for a second or two, misfire like, then reaches idle RPM. ONLY occurs on a re-start when the...

    CFI spider core return...?

Yes, I see three different reman options for the stock spider on Rock Auto: -GB Remanufacturing 833221028 -GB Remanufacturing 833221058 -Autoline 169708 I guess I’ve answered my own question; I’ll reach out to RA

    CFI spider core return...?

Just recently swapped my 5.7 Vortec to MPFI. Does anyone know of a website/vendor that will buy the stock CFI spider back as a reman core? I’m assuming a GM stealership wouldn’t even bother with a +20 year old part

    Intake Gasket Replacement

I tackled this job today along with the MPFI swap. This write up was extremely helpful, thank you! I used some 5/16” x 3” threaded studs to align the manifold on reassembly, worked great. Old gaskets were toast.

    Dreaded intake manifold leak...I think?

Did both the gaskets and the MPFI swap today. Old gaskets were toast, cracked in multiple places around the rear coolant passages. No signs of leakage internally though. Overall the job wasn’t bad, just time consuming. I used the pinned “intake gasket replacement” thread and the 1A auto...

need help pinpointing possible source of coolant leak

I found coolant leaking at a similar spot on my 97 K1500, traced it up to the intake manifolds (very common gasket failure as others have mentioned.) check the back of the lower intake manifolds, on either side of the distributor.

    Dreaded intake manifold leak...I think?

Thanks! I’ve been looking at the MPFI swap as well, seems like a good time to do it. Summit has the entire AC Delco swap assembly w/ gasket and bracket for less than $300, will likely go that route.

    Dreaded intake manifold leak...I think?

Thanks! It is the truck in my avatar, 97 K1500 I inherited from my grandpa who bought it new in 97. Got it a year and a half ago with 52k on it, bone stock. It spent most of its life in his garage as he had multiple vehicles. Now that it’s my DD, issues like this start to pop up (already...

    Dreaded intake manifold leak...I think?

Thanks for the replies, time to start studying up. Doesn’t seem too challenging, just a PITA. Are the FelPro gaskets still the go-to for replacement?

    Catback xhaust

What model vehicle? I have a JBA stainless cat back on my ext cab K1500 that was by far the most affordable stainless system I could find. But I believe they only offer the ext cab/short bed chassis

5.7 Vortec, only 65k original miles

    Dreaded intake manifold leak...I think?

Recently developed an intermittent coolant leak, traced it from the trans bell housing up to what I believe is the rear end of the intake manifold. Managed to slide my phone in and grab some pics. These are from the driver side facing down, just below the distributor. Is this in fact the rear...

Window roll up w/ door lock

Installed a DEI 529T module this weekend, a nice add on to the Viper 4105V keyless entry/remote start I installed on my 97 K1500. There’s a few ways to wire the activation circuits based on how you want it to behave. I chose to use the lock pulse from the Viper unit to activate full-travel. This...

    keyless entry

Your relays need to be wired like this: There's also the DEI 451 module that can be used to simplify install. I used it when I installed my Viper 4105 keyless/remote start system and it worked great.

    Bizarre HVAC button switch short

I will add that the compressor seems to cycle on and off erratically when the fan is off but the AC button is on. With the AC button and fan both off, doesn't seem to do it.

    Bizarre HVAC button switch short

My 97 K1500 pickup has developed this bizarre short on the two (cabin recirc and AC) buttons. With the fan off either button switch on or off, the lights will flicker intermittently as shown in the video. Turn the fan on and there’s no problem, system runs as it should. There must be some...

    Viper keyless entry/remote start install

I was just looking at these, definitely cool, but the module alone costs more than twice what I have into the project as is. Christmas is just around the corner though.....
