    Couplee of speaker questions

Okay, having problems getting the dash grilles back in. Can't get the front hooks into the slots, the depth of the aftermarket speakers meant I had to use the 1/8" spacers to raise them up, otherwise they bottom out in the speaker holes. Any ideas on how to solve? Guess my dash mat disguises...

    Couplee of speaker questions

How did you pop the speaker dash grilles out? Is there a technique, like pry from a particular side? Edit: finally found a YouTube video on the process for removing the dash grilles, looks like pop the edge farthest from the windshield. These are incredibly shallow speakers, I measure 1-78/" deep!

    Couplee of speaker questions

    1. How do you pop out the dash speaker grilles without damaging them? Mine are in good shape, so like to not bust them up if possible. Of course, they look original so may be impossible? Anyhow, not finding a right up on here and not seeing a video on YouTube. 2. Can a speaker large than stock...

Looking for help on 88-94 cassette deck repair

I have a line on a old take-off. A co-worker went to lunch with me yesterday, and we got to talking about the hole in my dash. One of his in-laws had a suburban with the same dash and they pulled out the stock radio/tape deck and replaced it with something aftermarket. So my friend is going ask...

I have the spare economy deck, no EQ, has the cubby hole.

Looking for help on 88-94 cassette deck repair

The deck is out of the truck. When the deck was installed, and a tape is inserted, it just clicks every so many seconds. not sure if it is trying to eject, if it thinks it is at the end of the tape, or some other issue. My stock cassette is the non-eq version. Cleaning with the deck assembled...

    New outside mirrors?

Thanks all for your responses. Maybe the next time I'm at a you-pull-it yard and can find a Dodge and a GM with these mirrors, I will try to physically swap them and see if they fit and look right. Could be some subtle variations that would either keep them from working right or looking right...

    New outside mirrors?

Df2x4, didn't know that, thanks for sharing the links. Some pricey parts though.

    New outside mirrors?

These are the type of Mirror I have, not my truck, as I don't have a good pic of my truck showing the mirrors. We used to hear them called "elephant ear" mirrors when they first came out in the late 70's. I am thinking I would go back with the same type, either the same black plastic or chrome...

Looking for help on 88-94 cassette deck repair

Struck out on YouTube. Anyone know of a post or write up on repairing cassette decks for our trucks? Maybe with a lot of photos? Search function on this site didn't turn up anything for me.

    New outside mirrors?

Was thinking about replacing my beat-up original outside mirrors. After seeing the condition & price of used mirrors at the salvage yards near me, decided that is not the way to go. LMC has mirrors at a decent price, wondering about the quality. Anyone here have comments on them? Any other...

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

Well, guess I should see if there is a YouTube video on this repair.

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

Went to pull a part yesterday, had to settle for an EQ deck, as the only standard tape deck rattled when I pulled it from the dash. Installed the new EQ deck today and was met with a clicking sound. I did pay an extra $3 for the 30 day warranty. So I guess Friday I will try a different yard in...

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

The driver's side is not drilled for a fastener on my truck. The floor mat does have about a 1.5" circular hole in it to allow for securing it. Need to get that piece or make my own. Thanks everyone for your help so far.

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

Okay, I understand now, undo the threaded rod. I tried undoing the rod with vise grips, but the vise grips just spins around and off the threaded rod. Looks like I need to take off the bolt that is on the bottom or outside face of the floor pan, then the threaded rod will come out? Does the...

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

Unfortunately this one is blurry, so may need to re-take it tomorrow. But the tool tray seems to be glued or held down somehow. Can't really tell, but there is a sort of washer like thing on the threaded rod, on top of the tool tray. And it seems that washer is affixed (glued?) to the tool tray.

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

Okay, I have a couple pics now. Gray plastic tool tray is underneath the red plastic brace. That brace has a hole for the threaded rod to slide up through. So, anyone know if the plastic tool tray goes under or over the brace? Is the tool tray different somehow when this plastic cover is in place?

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

PlayingwithTBI, thanks for the photos. I can be a little slow at times, and this must be one of them as I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I can't get the package tray/jack cover I bought to sit down completely. I have the same pieces you have. I wonder if the gray plastic slotted tool...

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

Maybe the speakers have been replaced, haven't looked at those yet, but they don't distort at the volume I play at. There's a few other things I want to work on before messing with them.

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

Thanks for the advice, but I'll worry about the speakers once I get the cassette working again. But yeah, probably the original speakers. They sound okay for the time being. I have the SL trim, which is just a step above the W/T. I think the SL and Cheyenne are about the same trim level.

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

Thanks for the answers, just wanted to make sure. My cassette player won't play or eject. Had to fish a tape out with a screwdriver the last time I played a tape. I went to the U-pull-it yard this weekend, and the only cassette decks they had for 88-94 trucks had the built-in EQs. So was...

Lol, I'm figuring it out as I go. I will post what I learned. I know others have done this, but not finding a write up for it.

    Question on 88-94 factory stereo

So, I learned the stereo in my truck is 3 pieces, the am/fm controller, the tape deck, and the metal box the first two connect to. Didn't know about the box until Friday, guessing this is the "brains" of the system? I have the simpler version of this radio. My question is, is the same metal box...

How does the behingd the seat jack cover mount?

I think I understand how the two threaded rods work for holding it all in place. I am missing one the driver's side of the cab, but figure I can mount that, but a pic would be good of the drivers side all mounted. I am wondering how the tire changing tools fit in or with the plastic box? There...
