    Widest WHEEL possible?

Thanks for the response. So you don't have any lift or leveling, the wheels are 17 x 9, and tires are what size now? No rubbing issues? I wish I could just order some 16" x 10", bolt them on without any lift or leveling and not have them rub. Don't want to mess with the chassis since I just a...

    Widest WHEEL possible?

Apologies in advance for the most over ask question possibly. Not even sure how to ask it or if it makes sense, but here goes. I tried to search but the search parameters aren't very forgiving. I currently have 16" x 8" wheels that upon taking one off and measuring it's actually only 7.5". They...

    Interior plastic repair

Others have already suggested using JB Weld, that's what I used in some of the areas you mentioned. Before mixing epoxy, dry fit everything, try to figure out a way you can apply pressure or a clamp the pieces when you are ready to stick it together. In some places, you might try, on the back...

    Odometer and trip meter died

Hallelujah! I am a happy camper. Thanks to Derek the Great for the direction of current flow. Apparently those months the truck sat idle in back of a so called body shop, someone needed a fuse and relieved me of one labeled "Brake" a 15 amp one. Stuck one in and when I turned the switch on the...

Sorry for the span of disappearance....been real busy and can't get the settings on this forum to send me a notification of replies. Anyway, I am Europaman because I built an experimental aircraft called a Europa. Go to You Tube and search "Troy Maynor Europa" if you're interested.

    One brake drum locking

So I fixed the problem. When I replaced the shoes and the master cylinder I failed to put any grease on the backing plate at the points of shoe contact, and there was some rough places from rust I had not cleaned well enough causing the shoes to now move freely. Lesson learned. Thanks for all...

    Odometer and trip meter died

I changed the speed sensor and it did not help the problem. Is there any connectors or other termination points between the speed sensor and the cluster?

    Odometer and trip meter died

As it turns out the speedometer doesn't work either. It was stuck on 45 mph, which is the speed I happened to be going on my initial test run in my neighborhood.

    One brake drum locking

It's been a while since I put all this together so memory is a little foggy. Honestly didn't think I needed to change the parking brake adjustment as it was holding good before and was all freely moving. And as far as the shoes, I adjusted them to where I could just barely get the drums over...

Need brake advice... EDIT: I have an 89 GMC K1500 SLE, non Z71 Situation is: right rear drum is almost locked up and gets smoking hot quickly. Will turn with great effort while left one and two fronts are fine. Prior to this I rebuilt most of the system, replacing master cylinder, both...

    Odometer and trip meter died

So I've been doing a semi-restoration of sorts on my 89 GMC. Drove it the first time in four years. I noticed the odometer and the trip meter has quit. Since these things no longer have spinning cables to make them go round and round, where and what powers them now. Keep in mind the speedometer...

    GMC Body molding

So I bought some new "GMC 1500" badges to go on the new body molding, non OEM that comes on a roll. What's the best way to carve out a place on the molding and cut the holes, which appear to need to be elongated it appears? And is the small little patches of adhesive spots on the back...

I was wondering how you cut the sharp angles on the front of the door that has to tuck into the fender when door is opened. Will a utility knife been adequate to get a clean cut and correct angle? This would be one advantage to get the precut factory stuff...but cost is an issue of course. I...
