AIR Injection needed for 88 K1500

Rockauto has the piping and NAPA sells the pump. Check your RPO codes or emissions sticker first to make sure it had one from the factory. I drive a 1990 federal emissions truck in CA and never had an issue.

    MT2500 ?

Very good info. I need to backup my cards. I keep my Modis in a pelican case, but I just picked up the diagnostic cart made for the scanner so will be making the transfer soon. Another cool feature of the Modis is that there is a VGA port hidden under the left grip at the bottom. If your...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Stock 1990 5.7 here. I see 3-5 knock counts on startup. Assuming that’s the starter engaging and disengaging. Through normal operation I see zero KC. Under full throttle acceleration I’ll see up to 8 KC. With that Modis you should be able to back probe at the ECM Pinout for the knock sensor...

    OBD1 ABS Power Brake Bleed - Kelsey Hayes 4wal - Snap-on MT2500

1.6 is a very low version. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a programmable VCI with that low of version. The software companion disks generally just contain the reference documents that are called out in the troubleshooter cartridges. They have nothing to do with vehicle compatibility or updating...

    OBD1 ABS Power Brake Bleed - Kelsey Hayes 4wal - Snap-on MT2500

I don’t have specific info for ABS brake bleeding as the truck I work on does not have that option (codes only for KH RWAL) but perhaps the below info will help. Just having one of the black VCI cartridges does not mean you have the same version of software that your shady tree mechanic was...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

Really hard to say as Snap-On doesn't tell you anything in their scanner guides and you would never know until you connect the scanner and await instructions. On the 88-95 GMT400s, it seems the use of the Multi-1 depends on the scanner software version in use (cartridge version). When I use a...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

You would remove the GM-1 adapter and put the multi-1 adapter in its place on the scanner. Insert the 12v power cord into the multi-1 adapter and then insert the color coded leads into the terminals of the ALDL connector in the truck. The scanner should tell you which lead goes where. You may...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

On its way. Be interested to know if it works as well. I only have RWAL, so I know automated bleeding is not an option for me. The thing about these older Snap-On scanners is that you really don't know what it can do or what adapter you need until you connect to the vehicle and let it tell you...

Looks like you need the Multi-1 adapter. I have an extra one I can send out to you. PM me the address and then just include it with the kit when the scanner moves along.

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

BASIC OPERATION: For 88-95, you need the GM-1 adapter, comm cord and the 12V power cord. You plug the 12V power INTO the GM-1 adapter to get it to power on. For 96-99, you will need the OBD-II adapter, comm cord, and a personality key. When you plug the OBD-II adapter into your truck, the unit...

    700R4 towing

If you are breaking transmissions every 40k miles, its probably not the transmission's fault. If your situation was anywhere near normal GM wouldn't have used the same trans for the last 30+ years in light duty trucks. They'd be bankrupt. Original 4L60 w/180k on mine, daily use and I keep it...

    700R4 towing

I dont think the 4l60/700R4 is that bad. Heck, nearly every sketchy landscaper in Southern California drives 12 hours a day in stop-and-go lugging around a twin axle dump trailer full of gear and plant carcasses. Their clapped out GMT400 keeps on going. Rarely do I see 90's Ford's or Dodges...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

Yeah, there are many ways to keep tight controls on who has it and where it is. Most of these ideas involve someone actively coordinating and a lot of personal info being available to the forum. I don't have the bandwidth to manage this process. So the way it is now, the management and...

Awesome. Thanks! I will add that if in its travels someone comes across a needed key or adapter that I didn’t include, just let me know. I’ve purchased a few eBay lots of MT2500s and have many duplicate keys/adapters/cartridges laying around.

Truck running rough? Maybe you want to throw some parts at the 'ole girl to make it right. But which part? There are so many. Perhaps you were in the driveway with the hood open, intensely staring at the engine to telepathically coerce it into functioning again when your neighbor stops by. His...

    New Distributor 89 350 tbi — choices!?

Dont believe Delphi makes a new TBI distributor. For the 96 and up engines, perhaps, but the 88-95 trucks you have aftermarket options which are ridiculously cheap to have any quality to them (in my opinion) or the ACDelco reman which is ~$300.

    New Distributor 89 350 tbi — choices!?

I'm not the best for providing guidelines as i've done a total of 1 distributor rebuilds in my days. I just started taking everything apart. I had already purchased an OEM rebuilt distributor, so didn't really care if i ruined it. I started the disassembly with the goal of simply recovering the...

    New Distributor 89 350 tbi — choices!?

My original distributer and ICM lasted for 31 years and it was still functioning when I replaced it. Only replaced it because I spotted rust-jacking under the star wheel causing it to be deformed and rub. I went with the GM rebuilt distributer from RockAuto hoping for similar reliability. No...
