New brake pad edge scraping rotor

Gold rotors should work out fine. The Centric 125.66009 are also very nice as they have a milled surface which really speeds up the bedding process.

Maybe you got the pads for the 1ton??? They still clip in, but are larger overall.

    swap/upgrades to front calipers

Just swapped out by JB6 equipped 1995 Yukon with JB7 3.15 Front Calipers and 1.25 Master as the pedal feel is much improved thanks mostly to getting rid of the low drag calipers and quick uptake master. Takes a little more effort but it's well worth it. Still running stock booster. The rear...

JC Concepts GMT400 RC Body Including Snoop Nose!!

Anyone build an RC Crawler or Monster truck using one of these GMT400 bodies?? The 11" body on a HPI Wheely King or King Crawler would be sweet or even using a MST CFX crawler kit. The Snoop Nose is really killer...i remember these as a kid...

    Master Cylinder Upgrade?

If you are going back, why not try a JB7 master as it uses the same booster and you don't need any adapters. Then upgrade to the non-low drag 3/4 1 ton calipers.

Anyone else force shifts by slightly lifting gas pedal?

?? While accelerating I let the gas pedal lift about 1/8 to force a shift. Seems like this is much better for trans. I've owned 4 GMT400s and have racked up close to 700,000 miles on them and had zero trans issues. All i have done is extracted 4 quarts of trans oils every 30,000-40,000 miles...

    Rocks hitting inner fender sound

I'm now thinking it's my cat....tried 93 octane with Lucas octane boost and still had the issue. Then lowered timing a couple degrees. Going to try swapping the cat.

Picked up Centric High Carbon for $100 instead of $175 for Cryo.

    Frozen Rotors Blank or Slotted

Looking to purchase some Cryo rotors as mine are about past there prime...put over 80,000 hard miles on them and they can no longer be cut. I purchased these from Praise Dyno years ago and i see they are out of business. Any suggestions? I see Frozen Rotors.com but not sure they are the way to...

I thought of that also. I averaged 12.7 before the swap. I'll start recording my MPG again. My quess is that they didn't use low drag calipers on the 3/4 & 1 ton because the EPA doesn't require the MPG to published.

    JB5 JB6 JB7 JB8 Size Thread

Should have come this way from factory. Well worth the effort. Put on about 90 miles today and they work great. Heat cycled them a few times and rear just starts to lock up when they are hot....but not full lock up. Although this might be due to my rear drums being warped. Trying to sort this...

    JB5 JB6 JB7 JB8 Size Thread

I have 1995 and it uses the 4WAL Anti-Lock system. Just changed out MS to a JB7 series without the quick uptake and JB7 calipers and the pedal is rock hard...crazy amount of difference. The bench bleeding took about 1hr and found the trick was to push the cylinder at different angles and for...

    11" Rear Drum Max Dia....WTF!!

Brought my drums in for resurfacing and they said they don't have enough meat on them...thing is these are nearly brand new. Found specs online for Nom Dia and Max Dia. and the difference is only 2mm. How could this be possible? I was told you need at least 15-20mm to resurface. These are for...

    Rocks hitting inner fender sound

I did get under their and root around and nothing popped out at me. Was thinking the cat, but i hit that with a rubber mallet and nothing could be heard. It seems to be related to load placed on engine and pinging does make sense....actually the only reason i think i'm noticing the sound is...

    Rocks hitting inner fender sound

The intake gasket was changed about 10,000miles ago and the EGR passages were cleaned and EGR checked out. I've had EGR issues in the past and it was replaced with AC Delco unit and remember spending alot of time figuring out the correct part#. That was about 30,000miles back...so i think the...

Just recvd the JB7 master cylinder with 1.25" bore and it doesn't look to have the quick uptake section. I'm thinking this along with the 3.15" calipers will be the best setup for the money on a 1/2 ton with JB6 RPO code. Total cost was $73. 2 calipers from AutoZone and Cardone 13-2684 MS from...

    Rocks hitting inner fender sound

Ohh boy....1995, GMC Yukon 5.7 TBI with 230,000 miles. You think the reason i'm hearing it towards the rear is the pinging noise is traveling through exhaust? Adjustable fuel pressure regulator running about 14 PSI. MSD 6A ignition. 87 octane Timing is at 0 degrees. NGK gaped to I think .035...

    JB5 JB6 JB7 JB8 Size Thread

Nice find! I guess moving to the JB7 3.15" saves you the guess work, but will also require a different master. How do you tell if a master is stepped bore? I'm guessing the 1.25" masters are not. I also couldn't find anything stating the the 3.15" calipers also incorporated low drag...

    JB5 JB6 JB7 JB8 Size Thread

Will do. I see that JB7 Calipers are not "Low Drag". I'm wondering if this will improve pedal feel as the pedal won't have to move as much to make contact with rotor?? This may be negated by the fact i'm moving to a small dia. master cylinder bore which requires more pedal travel though...

    Rocks hitting inner fender sound

When I give my truck more than 1/2 throttle and it's under load i get a sounds just like rocks hitting inner fender, but it's not. Sound comes from mid to rear area of the truck. Any clue what that could be. Very odd.

98 k1500 Pedal wont get fully hard?

Please note these trucks are known for soft pedals as the brake calipers used in most 1500s come with low drag calipers. When the brake pedal is released it pulls the brake pad away from rotor slightly. When you apply the brakes it needs to make-up that distance and that is mostly what you are...
