4l80e lost forward after being parked for months

I got a 96 K2500 Suburban 145k miles, no forward movement, but can reverse. Worked great prior to being parked for months. So first a little history. Trans fluid was changed at 62k miles, medium darkness, then changed again at 114k miles, medium darkness. We started a vacation a few days later...

4l80e kicking back to 3rd then no up shift

The slip code isn't always a death sentence. Mine was giving the slipping code multiple times. Just needed some valve body work, and it runs great, 12k miles. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Increase 93 4L80E shift points?

I thought 5000 was the redline with those engines due to crank velocity or piston velocity? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Vortec 454 Heater Core Bypass

You may have done this already, but I found pulling the air filter box out gave me a lot more working space around those hoses. Only took like 5 minutes to pull that box. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Vortec 454 Heater Core Bypass

I know its 3/4 inch. Couple years ago I replaced the two T fittings, where it splits to feed front and rear heaters and the second one was the return from both. I bought the wrong size at first, so I made note that it is 3/4. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Which filter for a 1999 4L80E?

I've used Wix 58836 filters in my 4l80e, that part comes with the nitrile gasket. Wix has another part without the gasket. Also, check that is says 17 bolt. The parts store websites show the 2500 coming with 4l60e and 4l80e, even with the 454 engine. You can't rely on their filtering. The...

    4L80E Torque Converter

I've had the same problem for a couple years. Mine went out in the summer on a trip through the desert. I put the selector in third, and it drives fine. I've hooked up the scanner and got nothing, even in the TCM scanner module. For me, 4th gear works fine when cold. Can feel the 4th shift as...

    Eating fuel pumps

Check if the return line from the FPR to tank is clear. A blocked return line would cause excessive pressure. Check voltage on the pump while running. A frayed cable would cause low voltage while pump is running but normal voltage under no load. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    99 4l80e gauge

Ma not be the best place, but I added a drain port to my pan, which has a 1/8 NPT whole, which is the same size as the sensor for my gauge. Just routed the wire up the firewall and under the dash. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Hot air entering cab

I've been having issues with the AC not cooling well. Its a 96 Suburban K2500. But the pressures high and low are where they should be. I was checking to see if the blend door wasn't working right, I found hot engine air blowing into the cab right at the AC recirculation intake. Everything right...

    Behind the bumper Hitch

While that looks nice and clean, it would be a pain to deal with the hitch pin and safety chains. Many people would not like that, which would explain why its difficult to find the part. During safety check, you would verify the safety pin is holding the hitch pin in place. Doesn't look like...

'97 K1500 Suburban Fan Clutch Comparison

That's helpful to know. I've noticed it being warm upfront while the kids are freezing in back a few times when we travel through the desert the past couple of years. On a side note. Anyone delt with fan replacements under warranty? I think I got a Hayden spring 2019, it's a severe duty...

    Heater (rear) isolation valves.

While I understand not wanting points of failure, pinching a hose is itself a point of failure, as the pinch point weakens the rubber hose. I've been towed twice now due to those plastic T connectors breaking. They don't like the summer heat. I've been looking for metal T's to replace them, but...

    K3500 Gearing

What I'm amazed by is that with all the pressure on MPG ratings over the decades that they still use excess fuel to cool anything. They added a DEF tank to diesels years ago. Why have they not added a water tank, inject water into the cylinders to help cool the engine. Some high MPG...

    Brakes got soft

Well, it fixed itself today. Either adding a little bit of brake fluid, just topping it from midway between min and max, or just sitting there for a few days. But the pedal feels normal again. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Brakes got soft

My brake fluid has been midway between min and max for a while. Guess I'll put it at the max from now on. My power steering does have a leak that I've been watching the past few years 14k miles. Used about 1/2 a quart in that time. Was not really worried about it, still can't figure out where...

    97 3500\350 5 speed is a dog.

Hauling weight like that, if you're in a hot environment do not switch to efan. They do not pull enough air to stay cool while pulling weight. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Brakes got soft

I suppose its possible, and could explain why its happening. So does that mean it's just a minor worry, not a stop driving and get it fixed thing? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Brakes got soft

Guess I should have mentioned, it's a 96 Suburban K2500, so it's got hydro boost. Don't see any leaks, brake fluid level is still in the normal area. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    Brakes got soft

I was driving today, someone cut me off and I stomped the brakes. I noticed afterward that my brake pedal is soft. Still stops ok. If I hold down on the brake when stopped it makes a hissing noise. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    K3500 Gearing

I got a 96 K2500 burb 454 with the 3.73. I got the standard tire size, 245/75R16. It does great pulling our trailer, it's only 6500 pounds, but we have a lot of 4 to 6% grade hills here. If I keep it at 75 it'll stay in 4th gear. If traffic or speed limit slows us down below 70 then it likes...

stalled when trying to restart starts cranking normal then acts as if timing way advanced

Glad you finally got it fixed. I paid a mechanic to replace a few parts with no change in the misfire. Brought it back home for a while, and I read a bunch here and other sites. Took it back to him to replace the distributor cap and rotor, fixed it right up. Apparently the scanners don't help...
