    Vortec pumps are an upgrade to tbi's. Code 12 is related to the distributer. Look that part over, your pickup might be bad

    I don't know how different those trucks are to regular ones. But 20 psi fuel pressure on a tbi is too high. In a regular 350 tbi the pressure is around 12

    They all are tight with no load on them. Same thinking I had, but once I installed it. It was just like the one a replaced it with. I've replaced my gear box 3 times! With a rebuilt one. It seems like they just paint them and box it up. Go with a redhead or bluetop.

    I highly suggest getting a steering shaft from a jeep Cherokee. It's a popular swap for these trucks, and it fits perfectly. Gets rid of the rag joint, I've done it to my truck.

    The cheapest I found for the correct engine was $2910. It would eat up my budget but be the best choice. Summit and jegs would price match pace performance

    That's prolly why most of the rebuilders offer a no fault warranty. I'd hate to buy one and then look it over and see poor workmanship. I went to a few shops here in Phoenix. It's not good when there are a bunch of cars in their lot with hoods up, flat tires and all dusty.
