Same...in Colorado the law requires us to run an actual license plate. Been pulled over for not having one but cop was cool and just gave me a warning.
While you've got it all apart (again :biggrin:), thoroughly clean and inspect the pushrods, if you haven't already, to ensure they can deliver oil properly to the rockers. (Sorry if you've done this and I missed it).
Edit: Check them for flatness as well using a piece of glass to roll them on.
1991 introduced the rare tach cluster for our trucks and the wiring/connector that the instrument panel plugs into also had some minor wiring changes. Going by the service manual you'll need a 1991 moonie cluster due to the wiring changes (or the rare tach cluster!). Another option is to buy an...
The two wire connector is for the drivers side seat belt. The wiring runs under the carpet from the seat belt base and comes out below the convenience center and plugs into the connector that you have pictured.
That harness gets attached to the back of the dash via those two metal mounting tabs.
Definitely enjoyed reading through your adventure. Reminds me of some of my own adventures...to include the pyrotechnics! Ain't nothing like fryin' some nostril hairs and eyebrows to get your attention!!!
