    88-94 Radio Issues

As said, worth a shot to crack them open and take a look. Capacitors will either be leaking or bulging on top. They can also look fine but be bad too. When I repair electronics this old, I just replace the capacitors anyways even if they look fine. Honestly, most older electronics have issues...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I just wanted to ask if it's confirmed the balljoints are 10 degrees and not 7 degrees? There are other manufacturers of reamers is why I ask. They are usually listed by inches/ft (as Speedway has in their description, this is a 2"/ft reamer which is actually ~9.5 degrees).

    LS swap advice

There's a really great LS Swap GMT400 Facebook group called "LS Swapped 88-98 OBS Trucks/SUV". It's well worth checking out and tons of great information. For 400 RWHP, your best bet is always displacement or forced air. I would start with a 6.0 (LQ4 or LQ9). I know they are pricier but to get...

    454ss axle

Many companies out there will make custom axles for any application. Look into Dutchman Axles, Moser Engineering or Strange Engineering (among many others). I haven't used any of these (yet) myself so I can't comment on which is best.

    My 454 SS build

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. I know you used an A01 adapter but it was the short hub style adapter. The one I was referring to is a two piece 5/6 bolt pattern (see here). I think it would be also cheaper than a short hub+spacer, but give the same depth for the spline and allow connecting to...

    My 454 SS build

Interesting. It looks like you did: Adapter - Spacer - Quick Release. Correct? How tall is your setup? Is the 1/2" spacer just to provide enough room for for the quick release to clear the spline? If that's the case, I wonder if you could use the A01-56B adapter by Forever Sharp instead. It...

    2wd brake upgrade write up

WMS-WMS measurements: OBS 10 bolt ~ 64 ½" OBS 14 bolt (6 lug only, excluding the 5 lug) ~ 67 ½" NBS (14 bolt, 10 bolt may be the same) ~ 68 ½" Spring Perches measurements: OBS ~ 47" apart NBS ~ 49" apart The shock mounts appear to be very close upon further investigation so you can likely get...

    2wd brake upgrade write up

2WD? Then the axle will be wider (WMS to WMS) than the GMT400 has. The spring perches and shock mounts are also in the wrong place. If you can live with modifying it, then it will work.

    2wd brake upgrade write up

The 2WD Astro buckles will work on the 2WD gmt400s. That will give 13 inch rotors and dual piston calipers with stock parts, the issue is it has to come from I believe only the 2005 model Astros and the ball joint holes need to be reamed a bit. For the rear, a 20mm spacer for the 10 bolt or...

gmt400 K1500 rear disc conversion w/ master cylinder upgrade

LSM does offer a caliper with parking brake (from an El Dorado I believe). Personally, I like the idea of DIY. Get a 60mm spacer (or 20mm for the 10 bolt rear) and then you can use the NBS rear brake setup. The SUVs had 2 piston calipers (with parking brakes!) and ~13" rotors. More info here...

    Cab mounts

First, I would check the bushings. That's a big cause for bed and cab not being aligned. Replace them all if any look worn. With how the frames are constructed at the factory, I don't know if this would exactly be a factory issue. How far out is the alignment of the box and cab? Are you sure...

Long Tube Header & Y Pipes that work in OBS Trucks with LS Motors

Honestly, if you are a Facebook user, there's a great OBS LS swap group on there with tons of great info. For headers look at the Schoenfeld LS swap headers (PN# 1302LS1). They fit the best on OBS LS swaps in 2WD. Do NOT use the Speed Engineering headers, they say they work but they don't...

    4l80e 2wd trans to 4wd conversion

No adapters. You just need a tail housing and output shaft. To replace the output shaft you will need to tear down most the trans so it's usually recommended to do a trade or something for the trans you actually need.

If it were your truck ????

If money was no object, I'd do an LSX 454 engine with a 4L80E. I'd fit perfectly with that truck! Otherwise I'm agreeing with what the others said, LQ4/LQ9 swap. Planning to do one of those in my truck.

    Paris gets a 6.0

From what I've read on the Facebook group for LS swapped OBS', the Speed Engineering headers do NOT fit 2WD OBS' without some bending/modifications. They DO fit the 4WD OBS though. Most on there just suggest using the Schoenfeld headers for less headaches.

    Ardent Fabrication Autocross Truck

The brakeline above the pumpkin makes me nervous. You can see where the pumpkin has been hitting already, it's just asking to crimp or brake that line in 2.

    c-notch question

It would not be wise to install the plates in that manner. It would provide minimal frame support. It would create a weak point on the unsupported frame side that is now cut also that's just asking to crack. The only thing holding it in would be a few welds on the top/bottom of the frame. If you...

5/6 or 5/7 lowering the best kit?

Very curious about learning more about the Belltech upper extenders. So you need to run both the top and bottom extenders? I was always under the impression it was one or the other. With running both, do you still run a drop shock? It appears as if a stock shock would then be best with running...

5/6 or 5/7 lowering the best kit?

Yes, you can weld the Belltech in also. Just be careful when welding as not to overheat the frame and warp it. The other weld-in kits I mentioned give a bit more suspension travel though, which is likely not an issue anyways at a 6" drop. Also, don't forget to notch your bed frame support...

5/6 or 5/7 lowering the best kit?

From what I have read: FRONT: Spindles: You can argue either DJM or Belltech (Belltech pushes the wheels out slightly but I have heard the quality is better than DJM). Springs: I have read the Belltechs are softer than the DJM. This may be just on older kits. SHOCKS: I'd skip the others...

    Air Conditioner and Heater

First, I would check your heater core. These trucks don't have cabin filters so they can get packed with leaves and dirt. A good cleaning of the fins is usually a good step. Next, check your coolant. Make sure it's in good condition. If it hasn't been changed in a while, might not be a bad idea...

    Dash replacement

Another options, which I mentioned in another thread recently, is to flock the dash. It basically glues small fibers to give the dash a suede style feel and appearance. It's done a lot in rally cars to reduce dash glare. It's relatively cheap and there are tons of how-to videos online. Lots of...

    88-94 dash cover options

You can also flock your dash. Fix and repair the cracks first then flock it. It's seen a lot in rally racing to get rid of glare from the dash. There's tons of info online about doing this if it interests you.

    Shock Absorbers

Yes they are. Just go to the Bilstein website. They have a "Find Products for my vehicle" there and will show you all compatible products they make. They offers some for lifted, lowered and stock height GMT400's.
