    Torque Converter advice/Basic trans mods

I see your point This is only an additional $200 of parts Not tons in labor since it’d go in when the rear main was changed

    Torque Converter advice/Basic trans mods

So here in a few weeks I’m going to be doing some repairs and modifications On the repair side is a leaking rear main seal. I also want to have the front pump seal replaced in the transmission (I’ve had two fail in other vehicles) I want to replace my torque converter and change up the stall...

    Better Brakes

For the most part. To do it right does require welding on brackets IMO

    Better Brakes

You have a bunch of options. I converted the rear to 99-03 rear disks I’m converting the front to 07’ 13.1” rotors and twin piston calipers early spring late winter. When the fronts go on I’ll have to change the MC too. I didn’t when I converted to rear disks

    Travel trailer

With the 32's I would go 4.56. 4.10's are very close to the stock 265's and 3.73 gears combo. With a 4.56 you will have MUCH better pulling power and you will be able to use OD on flat land. I'm stepping up to 285/70/17'a I've planned to swap to 4.10's and have all the parts to make the swap...

    Travel trailer

4.56's and that truck is going to do ok but use plenty of gas I would add airbag overloads good shocks, rear disk brakes and run it. I towed 6k lbs with a 1500 (Vortec truck though) 10's of thousands of miles. I bought a crew cab Duramax to replace it but if I would have done the mods I...

    Upside down dampers

All shocks gas or otherwise will have oil. The shim stacks reaction to the oil inside is what creates the damping characteristics.

9.5" 14 bolt out of a 2wd. Swap in the 5 lug shafts from a 454 SS. Stock 14 bolt brake brackets from Ruffstuff. 14 bolt full float brake brackets K20 (mid 80's) front calipers and then the challenge would be finding slip over rotors in a 5x5 bolt pattern. 6 lug would be MUCH easier you can run...

    Vortec engine question

Depends on the owner and what they are doing. A vortec intake is a decent setup especially when the poppetts/spider are swapped for the mpfi replacement. On a tbi the TPI would be a really good swap. I'm all for keeping things as simple as possible though

The 10.5" 14 bolt may be the same length from 2wd and 4wd

8 lug 9.5" 14's are around 4" narrower on a 2wd If someone mounted this axle on an 8 lug 4x4 it would be close to 6" narrower than the front track
  22. P

    The Stupid Axle Questions Thread

Yes without the 2" spacers on the 2wd axle the stock aluminum wheels and 265's will not bolt up because they would hit the leaf springs
