    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

Lots of activity with the truck the past few months. I found relatively minimal damage to the main, rod, and cam bearings, so I elected to replace them myself to get everything back together quickly. I gave wrong information to my driveshaft builder regarding the u joints at the rear of the...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

I've always wanted an engine that revs quick like a carburated race engine. This one is close! Hoping it snaps even quicker when the tune is right.

Summit racing sells a pan that looks promising. Looks alot like the holley pans, and it holds 6 quarts, like the stock truck pan. SUM-121200 I'm glad it happened when it did, because I drive this thing all over the place. Roads here in the midwest aren't great. It would've happened eventually...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

Truck was back up and running with my new 408/4L80e drivetrain combination. I'm really happy with how it sounds, and love the way it drives with the Circle D 245mm converter. She's snappy. Unfortunately, I hit a bump in the road just perfectly on the first drive to put a hole in the...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

The 4.10 gears were junk and made a ton of noise. Don't know if the cause was install related or just the way the gears were made. I replaced them with Motive 4.56 gears that make zero noise now. I finally got to the track in November and ran a 15.4x on my first pass with the 4.56 gears. My...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

Finally getting back to this project. This year has been a whirlwind since April. Since my last post, I replaced the gears and differential with 4.10 gears and Eaton posi from quick performance, converted the rear brakes to disk brakes using brackets from Cunningham machine, and swapped to...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

I have 255/60-15 et street r's that are a full 1.25" smaller diameter than factory. It's a toy and I'm not afraid of low gears. The rear needs repaired/replaced anyway.

It will be getting 4.10 gears and an 0411 PCM tuned by me soon!

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

I've tried flashing the converter from idle, foot braking to 1500 or so rpm, and foot braking as high as my stock converter will go. Foot braking as high as it will go does a bit better, but not a big difference.

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

This truck was my daily in high school, college, and the beginning of my career before it became a toy a couple years ago. The toolbox was used to haul tire changing/emergency tools and various hand tools during that time. It stays pretty empty now other than a jack, four way, and jumper cables...

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

I made it back to the track the following weekend with some 255/60-15 et street r radials in hopes of running a faster et. The weather was significantly warmer that day with density altitude of 3000+ feet all day vs <1500 feet the previous weekend. My goal of 14.99 or faster wasn't in the...

    Hello from KCMO

I won due to the other lane red lighting. He ran an 11 something to my 17.5. I had terrible wheelhop and tire spin that pass. I posted a recap of my race day in the street chat and timeslips section, if you'd like to read more about it.

    97 Silverado RCSB 1/4 mile

Raced my pickup at Mo-Kan Dragway this past weekend. My previous best in this truck was 16.02 in the summer heat a few years ago. I've had a goal of running 15.99 or faster since then, but haven't had a chance to get back to the track. To help achieve this goal, I welded the open diff to gain...

    Hello from KCMO

It will get a few goodies before I put it in the truck. One goal that has stuck in my mind since selling my LS3 head/cam/nitrous 06 Silverado is running 11's naturally aspirated. This truck should be lighter than the 06 was by a bit, helping me reach my goal.

    Hello from KCMO

Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster here. I bought my 97 Silverado when I turned 16 in 2008. It faithfully got me through college and the first couple years of my career, then was promoted to my weekend toy a few years ago. I've lowered the truck 5/7 with...
