    Shaking rear end

I've had this exact issue with a couple different trucks due to out of round drums or the balance weight falling off. If the drums were stored or shipped on their sides, they will go slightly out of round and cause this. I've had good luck with Napa drums only. Other brands are hit and miss. I...

Tbi Issue Idle In Between Cold/Hot

Did you have the EGR and AIR pump tuned out of the ECM when you removed them?

turns to the left more then turns to the right

The pitman arm is keyed. It's nearly impossible to get them on a tooth off. Nearly. I would check the arm alignment and remove the stabilizer. See if turning is normal. If it is, then your stabilizer, or its installation, is the issue.

    SBC Engine build

You won't be able to do it, for long anyway, with that block. The 1/2 ton TBI blocks were 2 bolt mains and generally are good up to 500hp. You'll need a 4 bolt main block and a massive cam, along with going to at least a 383. I would consult an engine shop and have them do it if you've never...

350 TBI Boggs and surges under load

That's your VSSB. It does speed conversion from the VSS for the speedometer. More info here: https://harristuning.com/Tbi/vssb-drac-calibration/

350 TBI Boggs and surges under load

Which temp sender did you check? There are two - one in the head that goes to the gauge and one in the intake that goes to the ECM.

Was there a limited slip rear axle for a 98 c1500 5 bolt?

It's a 10 bolt and you can get a G80 for it at the junkyard or just replace the whole axle with one that has a G80.

    Lifters, maybe? ... Probably

Does it get louder or more noticeable in gear? If so, it might still be an exhaust leak. Otherwise let the MMO do its job and clean everything up.

    About cam time

Generally speaking, the biggest you can go without machine work on a Vortec head is .470. Beehive springs will increase the lift you can go with. Lots of info out there about cam swaps on stock motors.

    Cranks but won't start.

I run this one. Haven't had any issues in 6 years. I clean the contacts on the underside periodically with a small wire attachment on a rotary tool.

This truck is getting me worried

TBI doesn't have a crank sensor. The signal comes from the distributor module. This is only for spark though. On TBI motors the fuel pump will run until the system is pressurized when the key is turned on regardless if there is RPM or not. The oil pressure sending unit is the backup fuel pump relay.

Who's the best 4L60E builder these days?

When I had mine rebuilt, I used a reputable local shop in Cleveland. I didn't switch the gears but I did go from a 7 vane to a 10 vane pump for more consistent pressure during shifts, a Corvette servo for firmer shifts, and a 12 clutch 3/4 pack. I noticed a huge difference right away. I built a...

    Eaton Govloc/Mloc

I have a TracRite from AAM in my 10 bolt with 3.42s and I'm pulling about 300hp and have no issues. Talked with my axle guy and he says with the TracRite the 10 bolt should take up to about 500hp. I'm thinking if you have a 700R behind the 355 it will give before the 10 bolt.

    Cam options

Ok got some pics. I had to tap and plug the third water pump hole on the pass side of the block. This was originally a L31 crate engine btw. Pics show the elbow, hoses, and the Vortec pulley. The accessory bracket is from a 1995 TBI. earlier (88-93) may have been different than 94-95

FWIW I have the Vortec to TBI intake on my 880 block with the Vortec water pump and TBI accessories/bracket. Everything lines up fine. The intake comes with two coolant outlets - one in the back for the heater core and one in the front right next to the tstat as a bypass. That one is routed into...

Correct. Vortecs only used spin on clutches. You can swap fan blades between clutches if you want plastic on the TBI pump. I went with electric fans

    1988 C1500 tbi help

Just from your description it sounds like it's running lean. It could also be a misfire as Harry Dawg suggested. Can you verify the injectors are the correct ones for that engine? If you still have the old ones, try putting them back in and see if that makes a difference. You can also pull the...

    Cam options

If you use the stock cam they are fine, but almost any air/fuel upgrade along the way is likely going to require other upgrades like a better flowing head. I was able to get around 300hp and 400ft/lbs with the setup I put on, yet still get 16-17mpg at 60-65mph.

    Cam options

I put a Comp XR258HR in my 95 when I did the top end. I was originally going to use Vortec heads but I decided to put AFR 1006 heads on and a 46mm throttle body. The XR258 is old school so you need a new timing cover and a cam button but it provides great top end power with this setup and still...

    Cruise control issues

Cruise operation is minimum 25 mph on almost every car. Some are 30, but the GMTX00 trucks are 25.

Wanted! Clean dash for a 95 (blue)

I used a gray 98 in my 95. I just picked up some blue dash paint, the cubby from a 2500 (in tan), and painted all the parts. Looks close enough.

    Driveline Vibrations---Possible Driveshaft Issues?

I had the same issue and tried new tires, balancing and rebalancing, checked driveshaft, new drums (ACDelco), and a host of other things. I had the drums turned even though brakes were smooth. Still vibrating. Pulled the drums and they were like eggs even though the inside was perfectly round...

    Front sway bar bracket

The bolts on those sway bar brackets strip out frequently. The block/spacer was probably put in because of that and the bracket then bolted to it.
