    OBDII Problems

As an update, I've verified all ground straps, verified continuity from pcm to dlc, verified grounds on dlc. At this point I'm thinking it's the computer.

    OBDII Problems

I have a 98 K1500 and cannot for the life of me to get any scanner to read the OBDII port. Using an ELM327 bluetooth dongle with Dashcommand. I tested them both successfully on my Dodge. The cig lighter has power, the port is getting power, I can pair with it, but it cannot detect the...

98 Vortec Rebuild : Tapping Oil Galleys

I was able to tap them. The smaller middle hole is 1/4-18NPT and the two larger ones are 3/8-18NPT. The middle hole is already the correct size, but the two sides will need to be drilled out a ways to 37/64. If anyone attempts this in the future, WATCH YOUR DEPTH. There are oil channels you...

98 Vortec Rebuild : Tapping Oil Galleys

So I'm rebuilding the vortec 350 out of my 98 K1500. Ive seen a lot of people tap the front oil galleys, regardless if its a high performance application. I cannot however, seem to find what they have been tapped to. Ive heard the two outside go to 3/8-18 and the middle 1/4-18, but the holes...

Where to find detailed engine specs?

I'll be rebuilding my 98 K1500's 5.7. I'm trying to find detailed info on measurements and clearances, and am having no luck. Is there somewhere that lists these, that I'm obviously not aware of? Any help is appreciated.

Opinions Needed - Warning, long read

The backstory: About a month ago I picked up a 98 K1500 Z71 for about $1400. It was located about 3 hours away, and had was burning through coolant due to the lower intake gasket failing. Truck has 230k mi on it, engine has never been opened. I knew this, and decided to try and limp it home...

    98 K1500 - Sensor Identification / DLC Problem

Alright. Replaced the brake switch and all is normal again. Ill also be replacing the interlock (found one new on ebay for $35) because it wont hold itself on anymore. Jury is still out on the DLC. Amateur tip: Drop the column and its 100x easier to get at the switch. I just changed it...

    98 K1500 - Sensor Identification / DLC Problem

I just did more testing. Brake lights aren't coming on now. Plugged the BTSI back in and it locked down like it should. I did get them to flash a couple times when I would first start to depress the brake pedal. Ill look into this switch adjustment.

    98 K1500 - Sensor Identification / DLC Problem

Now that it is plugged in, assuming it wasn't connected before, is when its locked. Ill unplug it in a bit and see if it allows it to shift. I tried finding one but am having trouble. Is that it's actual name? The battery should be good. Now one that I was testing with was one I bought to...

    98 K1500 - Sensor Identification / DLC Problem

That makes sense then. My cousin unplugged things on that side of the dash and didn't know where that went. Seems it may have been unplugged. If so, would that allow it to shift? As for the DLC port, my reader is powered from the port itself. That was fast.

    98 K1500 - Sensor Identification / DLC Problem

So I'm new. I just picked up a 98 K1500 beater, to fix up/hunt with. I'm slowly working through all of it's many problems and need a little insight. 1. I recently swapped out the dash as half of the previous one was missing, and came across this sensor attached to the steering column. I'm...
