    Nv4500 clutch advice

Finished up a solid flywheel conversion this morning. Went with a reasonably priced Perfection kit from Rockauto. The truck only rolls about 150 miles a year around the farm so I think it will be good enough for me. Only hiccup was the front flywheel cover plate rubbed the new flywheel and...

    Nv4500 clutch advice

I finally got everything pulled apart this morning. This truck has a dual mass flywheel so I’m guessing the spring shrapnel must have worked it’s way out of the flywheel. The pilot bearing was also shot but the amount and type of material I found in the bell housing don’t seem to be from the...

    Nv4500 clutch advice

1992 K3500 6.5/NV4500 Had a horrible noise from the clutch area. Pulled the front cover off the bell housing and fished this out . The transmission was shifting with no issues, but I’m a assuming this is part of a spring from the clutch plate itself. I plan on ordering a clutch kit in the...

    NV4500 through the years

A 94 would have a external slave that mounts to the bell housing. I don’t think you can change it to an internal without some machine work even if you have a later model bell housing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Btw, keeping the transfer case will give you the option to use low range if needed. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

    4L60E 4WD to 2WD Conversion

The front drive shaft bolts on, either to a yoke or a flange. Nothing to plug. I'd agree with going that route if the transfer case is in good condition. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

    hitch

For me the B&W lives up to the hype. I'd say I hook onto at least 20 different bumper pull trailers on a regular basis. Sometimes 3 or 4 different trailers a day. Being able to change the ball size and hitch height in seconds is a big time saver. I do carry a pintle just in case I need it...

    Front diff problems help

The shim between the clutch gears will eventually fall when the axle gets pulled out far enough. It will then block the clutch sleeve from sliding across and you'll lose 4wd. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

    hitch

I've got a B&W tow & stow. I'm pretty happy with it. I buy their products when I can because the factory is close to where I live and I know several people who work there. That Rhino looks pretty sweet. The single pin adjust looks like it would be easier to use. Although I like having the...

    Another 4wd actuator issue, kinda

    Actuator wont engage posibly?

The actuator on the front end is what you want to check first. A manual shift transfer case doesn't doesn't have an actuator. You may not have a light on the dash either (I've never seen one on a manual) just the light on the shifter. Unplug and unscrew the actuator. Plug it back in and...

    Transfer case stupid question thread

No chain in the front end. I can't think of anything that would grind if the truck is stationary and in neutral when you put it in 4hi. I've never known a bad actuator to make noise, but that's where I'd start. Just unscrew it from the housing and check it's function while it's out. Should...

1990 K1500 front axle snap ring

I think it may take decades of wear before this issue happens. Never had it happen when I was tearing up these trucks as a kid in the 90's. The last several years I've seen it happen alot. The snap ring wears out and allows the pass axle to slide back a little, then the shim falls and the...

1990 K1500 front axle snap ring

A shim sits between the gears that engage the 4x4. It can drop when that passenger side axle comes out and won't let the axle slide all the way back in. You'll have to drop the tube and get the shim back in place. If not your 4x4 will not engage. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

    T-case interchange ?

I ran into this issue several years ago. The way I remember it....long and short front outputs exist in both a flange and yoke. Long will swap with long and short with short. You can also open up the case and swap any output shaft for another. You may also need to know that a transfer case...

    1500 to 2500 Axle Swap

Not sure where the width differences come into play, but the 14 bolt I put in my 88 k1500 came from a 94 c2500. No width difference, bolted right in. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

    4wd engagement

Your transfer case does engage immediately. It's the front diff that needs movement to engage. The electric actuator or a cable lock will be faster. The only way to get it to instantly engage without moving is to permanently lock the front diff. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk

Front Differential 1 or 2 actuting switches

I think what your calling a 2nd actuator or sensor is the switch that turns on the 4x4 light when the gears are engaged. They may have done away with that with the electric actuators, which would make sense since they have more wires and a new harness is required to upgrade. Sent from my...

How much power can transfer case handle?

If your 241 is in good condition it will be fine. If you want it for hardcore wheeling, check out a slip yoke eliminator and output shaft upgrade. Only upgrades I know of. Not really any easy swaps for a beefier TC with 27 spline input and the correct drop side. 241's have a few issues with...
