Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Okay, good and bad news. Blower motor is now working after replacing the resistor. After replacing the ignition switch the starter still won't turn over via the key, only when I connect it to a live wire in the fuse box.

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Well %$$! me, this is the third time in the past six I've had an ignition switch go bad. The original lasted about 20 years. The GM one I installed about 6 years ago lasted 4 years, the generic one from the autoparts store lasted 2 years. Parts these days are such pieces of $hit. I always second...

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Did the wire at the starter relay in the fuse box trick with the key turned to have the fuel pump running. Engine turned on just fine, drove around just fine, went to get groceries, did the trick again, came home and parked it. No codes showed up or anything abnormal other than the blower motor...

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Quick question, can I turn the key to "on" and jump the starter and drive my truck as normal?

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE Starter works. I used a piece of wire to connect 30 and 87 at the starter relay connection on the fuse box and it spun as normal. So there's something wrong between turning the key but before the starter relay switch. Suggestions for the next troubleshooting...

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Let me find a piece of wire to test the test the starter via the starter relay switch first to see if it spins. I'd much prefer to not have to pull it out. It's the old non-gear reduction style so it's a big a$$ one and a pain to pull out.

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

So it may just be a coincidence that the starter quit working when I replaced the a/c controller? I haven't found the right wiring diagram yet but was wondering if the ignition switch, in addition to the starter, controls the blower motor. I replaced the resistor around 4 years ago but parts...

Starter not working after replacing A/C controller

Hi all, many thanks in advance for your replies. '96 C1500 5.7l Silverado 350cc, extended cab, 4l60e Yesterday my fan quit working. The highest setting had been out for a while but the other 3 levels worked fine so I just left it alone. I replaced it six years ago with an OEM. Can't seem to...

Good place to order a stock torque converter for a 4l60e?

My rebuild is starting tomorrow and I've gone back and forth between flushing my original torque converter (140,000 miles of easy driving with regular complete fluid exchanges) or buying a new or reman basic stock one. My last complete fluid exchange was around 5,000 miles ago. If I were to...

How does a 4l60e without a removable bellhousing affect dropping/reinstallation?

Thank you, Eskimomann209! I didn't think it would be much of a difference, but it's reassuring to hear it from somebody with experience. Thank you for the link! Can never have too much information. -Cory

How does a 4l60e without a removable bellhousing affect dropping/reinstallation?

So, pretty much every video or set of instructions I've been able to find refers to the 4l60e style that has the removable bellhousing. The plus is that I don't have to buy the special Torx 50+ bit and that's several reportedly very stuck bolts I don't have to undo. And no 12 o'clock bolt on...

    Hi guys

Hi everybody, My name's Cory and I have a '96 Chevy C1500 Silverado 5.7. I'm currently a PhD student in genetics at Texas A&M University. After scouring the internet, it's nice to finally find a reasonably active forum that includes my specific truck.
