1997 c1500 5.7 vortec crank but no start

You've replaced the parts but have you verified that you have spark and fuel? Any CEL lights/codes?

    Texas Roll Call!

I'm gonna try to make it to Autorama this year. I haven't missed that show in close to 10 years. The plant is scheduled to be on a shut down that weekend so I wouldn't be surprised if I get called in to work.

    Texas Roll Call!

I was planning on going this year but I swapped shifts so I could go on a camping trip in Arkansas last weekend so I guess I'll have to wait until next year to go to the swap meet.

94 stumbles and dies once warm.

Not entirely sure what the issue was. I sold my other obs and said screw it. I ended up buying basically an entire new fuel system for the truck. Everything except the injectors are new. New tank, another new sending unit and pump, filter, lines, and rebuilt the tbi unit again. I figured that...

    TBI injectors

I'm leaning towards injectors because they are the only part of the fuel system that hasn't been replaced. Tank was dropped and cleaned, new pump and sender, new filter, completely disassembled the tbi and deep cleaned everything. Truck runs decent but super rich at idle but does not take well...

    TBI injectors

Pretty sure the injectors are going bad in my '94 5.7. Looking to see where I can get some new/reman injectors that won't break the bank. Most places I'm finding them online don't show any reviews to know if they're actually any good or not.

    My first GMT400

Good looking truck! If I had that thing, I don't think I could bring myself to do any crazy modifications to it besides maybe swapping a 350 in it. It's super clean.

    Expedition console install

-I like it but I don't like it at the same time. It's a nice looking console but I feel like it stands out from the rest of the interior too much in the 88-94 trucks since the rest of the interior is squared off and the console is more round and flowing.

    Rims and Wheels

If it's a 96+, it can be done with a tuner/programmer. Edit to add. With 295/50r15 your speedometer will only read about 1mph slower than you are actually going if your speedometer is currently accurate. I honestly wouldn't even bother worrying about it with such a small difference.

    99 - 02 front clip conversion ??

I've seen it done, but it took a pretty decent amount of metal work.

    Texas Roll Call!

71 in August?! Now I'm the jealous one. I know what you mean about the rust up there. I have a friend that lives in the Goshen, NY area and some of the cars he drags home make me glad that we don't get rust like that very often down here besides the cars that stay right on the coast.

    Texas Roll Call!

To anyone who claims that summer is better than winter, you're wrong and you should feel bad. Just came back inside from attempting to wash the truck and said screw it after only rinsing it off. It is currently 106* with a feels like of 117* at my house. No wind either. It's brutal. I'll take...

    Encounters with your GMT-400

Two days after I bought my '96, I was headed home from work which was only a 15 minute drive. I was coming up to a bus that was stopped on the highway to let about 10 kids off. I started pushing the brake pedal and it went straight to the floor. I was doing about 55mph. Couldn't pump any...

Who's the best 4L60E builder these days?

T56 swap is the goal in my 96, but I'm also planning to swap to a 5.3. Problem is finding one that somebody doesn't want it's weight in gold for. I'm probably just gonna start with a 5.3 and an 80e and rock that until I can get everything ready to tear the whole truck down for a frame off build.

    Engine and computer question.

'99 C1500 with a 350? Didn't know they made the half ton 2wd gmt400 in '99. Engine will swap right in. One thing I'd do different though is go ahead and swap it to a 0411 pcm. You can get them on ebay for a little over $100 and the repinning isn't too bad as long as you find the correct wiring...

Model car/truck contest and show in Houston, Texas area

I really want to get back into building scale models. I built probably well over 50 when I was a kid and kinda gave up on them when I bought my first truck at 14 years old. I've only built 2 since then. I still have probably around a dozen in a storage locker that haven't even been opened up...

I need yalls help. Or maybe someone has done it i wanna put these on my truck because the grill is blacked out. Anybodythinkits not gonna look good lm

^ What he said. ^ Without some sort of projector, I'd even stay clear of black housings. They absorb so much of the light output. I had some on a dodge I used to have and while it was better than the stock housings, they just weren't very bright and the light pattern was funky. I went with the...

vortec 454 eating distributor caps/ rotor

I couldn't ever find one for my 4.3 at the time I was having the issues. I'm not even going to bother looking now as once I get my 94 going right, the 96 is getting pulled apart for a 5.3 and 4l80e. I've had entirely too many issues with that truck and it's old hacked up wiring to put up with it...

vortec 454 eating distributor caps/ rotor

I drilled mine in the side of the cap where it wouldn't interfere with any of the moving parts. A buddy of mine told me I should have teed it into a vacuum line somewhere but I didn't have any T's and didn't feel like going to get any at the time. I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt it going to...

vortec 454 eating distributor caps/ rotor

My 96 (vortec 4.3) was doing the same thing if I let the truck sit for longer than a week or so without being started or if it sat for a couple of days through a bad rain storm. The problem I was having was that GM did a horrible job designing the distributors for the vortec engines. They hold...

    New truck.

The 6.0 started it, but the 6.4 was the finisher honestly. The 6.0 if left completely stock with no tuner or anything can be pretty reliable. It's when people started straight piping them and doing crazy tunes that sent the 6.0 into a spiraling hell. The 6.4s were junk from the beginning. Our...

    New truck.

The ecoboost trucks are great and all if all you plan on doing is going back and forth to work and the occasional trip to pickup lumber or something like that, but I wouldn't put anything heavy behind them. When I used to be a Ford tech, we had plenty come in for issues and 9 times out of 10...
