    99 Suburban K1500

Y'all still have Fazoli's, I'm jealous! We had them in greater Houston for several years ( long enough to really like the food) and then they all left.... Really like how your Burb is going together! I want to install the inside door handles (that Rock Auto sent me in 2 days) this weekend. We'll...

    The Stupid Engine Questions Thread

Yes that is a bit different! I know on my Burb, when I changed the plugs the other day, I had to bend the dipstick bracket out to get more room/clearance to get my tools and hand in there. Bent it back when I was done. Maybe they picked a style of tube that fits "more universally".....

Mirror for our trucks with turn signal indicator arrow or light?

Does anyone make an outside rear view mirror for our series trucks that has a turn signal indicator light in the glass like the 800 series Denali/Escalade mirror ( with the LED arrow) or a light in the housing like some of the tow mirrors have? Also, anyone used them, ease of installation...

    Website Facelift?

You're not the only one who missed it! I was off during the day yesterday, went to get back on on had to re login and everything was different. White setting is easier to read but adjust your screen brightness!

    Website Facelift?

Yes that is true! Especially when it's 6:15am and you got on your phone cause you can't go back to sleep.... adjusting screen brightness helps though.

    Website Facelift?

If you go to the bottom of the screen,in the lower left corner, there's a paintbrush icon. Tap that and it goes to light mode which is white background and more colors showing. Looks good, I just changed it.

    Vortec aftermarket valve covers

OK thanks! I thought they were interchangeable but wasn't sure,so that's why I asked. So the Vette covers will go on the wish list; something to look for at swap meets.

    Vortec aftermarket valve covers

Depends on how far back your A/C compressor and alternator stick out. I would like to use the Corvette valve covers on my Burb, if I could find a set that weren't too expensive. Is the Vortec valve train any taller than on the TBI engine? (Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I don't have a TBI...

Yes I would,if it's the original one still on there. Didn't know they'd last that long.

4L60e running at 200-210F at operating temp.

Couldn't you just wire it in with a toggle switch or something, so it could be turned on when needed? Interested in maybe doing this on mine.

    Help with my c1500

Man, Pennsylvania is tough. In Texas,we had a reprieve from the license and inspection because of the pandemic. That expired in April, but my Burb wouldn't pass inspection because of a bad O2 sensor. Finally got that changed and it passed. But we didn't get pulled over because of the expired...

    99 suburban pass window

Could be some of the linkage inside the door is binding up. How well does the door handle work? I have a similar issue with one door on my Burb. Just ordered a set of the inside door handles for it. Two of the doors, I know this is the problem. The handles are cheap enough that I'm going to...

    Suburban down.

Yup that's what I use on my old 90 R 2500 Burb ( late square body 2wd). Was PF832 then they changed it and changed the #. When I couldn't get them any more, I went to Purolator version. Worked great and I had filtration for 5000 miles.

ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME

I had the master cylinder replaced on my Burb several years ago, and the guy that did the work also replaced the wheel cylinders. A couple years later I replaced the calipers and front brake hoses. Truck stops well, but ABS light is on. Found out the wiring harness on one of them is damaged...

    Daily truck pics

True that! If I find tow hooks, I'll have to change it anyway. It's a little cracked from our adventures in curbing back in December, but in good shape otherwise. I have to jack the truck up to get under it for anything anyhow. Someday if it lasts long enough, it'll get lowered, cause I love...

This is part of why the Burb can't be any lower just yet.....just barely clears the sidewalk, and this parking lot is not big enough for actual full size vehicles so we must park like this to be able to have nobody hit the truck..... it's a nice grocery store in midtown Houston. Same place I saw...

Upgrading to mpfi should i do the lower intake gasket?!

At least in a van you have some access to the back of the engine once the doghouse is off. Had a company van years ago ( the older style unibody van though) and that's how it was. The express model is the same way?

Upgrading to mpfi should i do the lower intake gasket?!

Yes I want to do all this stuff together, so I don't have to go into it more than once. Just trying to save up some $$$ to get parts.

    Suburban down.

no, mine is a C1500. Sometimes I do fill it to the top, but didn't at the last oil change because I didn't have that much oil. I get the oil at WalMart, but they had a supply issue with it for a while. I think they're trying to get away from dino oil and get everyone using synthetic oil. Not...

May be the car filter instead of the truck one. Back in the day, the car one was PF25, truck one was PF35, and it's about 2" longer. I use the AC PF1218 filter which is specified for the Vortec engines. I also put at least half a quart of oil in the filter so the pump has something to start with.

Upgrading to mpfi should i do the lower intake gasket?!

You ought to make a pattern or scale drawing of this! I'm sure many of us contemplating this job could use it( I know it would help when I get around to it). Thanks!

    $800 - 89 K1500 Silverado - negleted to useful

Cause it's a K series 4x4. Those are the early style alloy wheels, before the sawblades. Guess you could call them "asterisks".

Thanks! This is a Tahoe I've been trying to get a picture of for a while. It's on the way to my southeast Houston work territory, but many times it's not there. Today it was! Looks like a nice truck, my Burb's mini me.
