    I've tried that with power steering, brakes, and equivalently a filter only change and refill on the trans. That method sucks for all 3. Even a coolant purge I prefer to drain the block.

    Both of my trucks have factory trans temp sensors. They also had different shift logic for an overheated trans.

    I towed my 9000#ish 24' enclosed car hauler with 285/75/16. I still do on the 1500 with 285/70/17. While not as stable as my dually, it does just fine.

    Doesn't sound like a bad deal. The Caprices got roller cams in that era, but no love for the trucks.

    Keep it reasonably rich and add timing until you start seeing knock. Trim it back so the knock goes away and there's your 90% solution.

    I feel like mine was faster back in MI than that by a bit, but on the 2.75" pulley and a pig rich tune that I never dialed in. I'm gonna go with a 2 5/8" pulley and donate the 2.75" unit to the dually.

    My LT1 has the seam vents at the back of the heads, but they merge into a single line before dumping into the radiator. The back of the head still runs a good 15+ degrees hotter than the front. This is comparing left head to right head with the factory drilled holes being run WOT on a road...

    It's been done before. I'm inclined to thinking that the firewall connections won't shoot you in the foot. You'll probably want a 95 only cluster.

    And some of the TBI trucks got engine oil coolers and seemed more generous with the 4.10 gears and whatnot.

    That's insane. Definitely get the most monstrous cooler you can fit on that thing without a lockup converter.
