    4L60E Questions…

For a 4L60E, with out the ECM, you will need a stand alone trans controller. Summit Racing and Jegs have them.

Oh, and it is much easier to pull the rear end out of the truck and rebuild it on a stand or whatever. I repainted mine, and the $1100 also covered new wheel cylinders. My drums and brake shoes were still in grate shape.

Well, I can spin the tires, but, as for grip, it is a lot better than before. It was a real issue before trying to drive on wet roads. Now it is not. From a dead stop, If I nail the gas, both tires will spin for the first few feet, then it bites, and takes off. With the Corvette survos, it barks...

    Part number help!

Yeah, you just have to be careful pulling on it. And, then don't panic, and freak out. Just take your time fooling with it. I have pulled mine on my 97, 5.7 Vortec before. It can be frustrating.

    Part number help!

What year is your truck. What engine is it. I have had similar things happen to mine in different places. Sometimes you can replace that 90° elbow, with rubber hose as a temporary fix.

Bought a CC Dually 454 Whipple

Also, FYI, we are a machine shop. Most of not all machine shops, have welders, and they can build just about anything.

Bought a CC Dually 454 Whipple

We are a small shop. About 12 employees. We don't have a web sight. So let me ask you this. How big of a tank do you want? My 93 WT, had a 32 or 34 gallon tank. Surburbans have big tanks. So, you don't want to just swap on of those in? That would be your least expensive way to put a larger tank...

Bought a CC Dually 454 Whipple

What kind of tank do you want. We make them every now and then. Aluminum, and, or stainless. My co worker was trying to repair an old stainless tank today. It was a POS. The customer agreed to have us just make a new tank. Any good welding shop that does aluminum work, can build you whatever you...

The only time I had any issues withy tires rubbing, was when the dumb, lazy alignment tech who did my front end alignment, bent the inner fenders, to access the adjustment for the castor. After I figured out what was going on, and I bend the inner finder back where it goes, and the running stopped.

Door bushings and pins. Do the pins wear or reuse?

They should be sold as a kit. The real issue is you replace both, that way the pin and bushing are a matched set. Just because 8t looks the same, and you don't see any wear, doesn't mean that the old pins are the same OD as your OE pins are.

    First Chevy truck

Where the old 350 is better, is, low end torque, and longevity. Keeping in mind that the 5.3 was GMs choice to replace the 350 with. I have had my 97 with a 350, 5.7L Vortec for 20 years. I could always out run a stock 5.3L. yes, the LS is the most popular engine swap out there, hands down, and...

    Transmission replacement

I hadine rebuilt almost 1 year ago. 4L60E, HD master rebuilt kit, with Corvette survos. 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty for $2800. But my truck is a 2 WD.

Yes, it does not only did I drop the back 2 inches, but I also have about 200 lbs of steel bar welded to the receiver hitch, so Im sure that drops the back a little. 1 bar is welded under the hitch, and the 9ther bar is welded to the back of the hitch. Each bar is about 100 LBS. I did this for...

    Overdrive alternator pulley

LOL, it's ok, more info is always a good thing. You never know who else may need to know how to get it done. Personal, I am not real detail oriented, so I some time over look the little things. I am more of the let's get it done kind of guy, and some times that bites me in the ass.

    Overdrive alternator pulley

What 454cid means, is that, there are washers on both sides of the pulley. Keep them in order. Put the washers from behind the pulley, back behind the pulley, and the washers in front of the pulley, back in front of the pulley.

I have had thought of doing this swap, but after bringing my front suspension up to par, it is fine the way it is. It is a cool upgrade though.

Truck Of The Month questions and coments thread

The nomination thread, opens at the beginning of each month. I start that thread then, and give a discription of what trucks are eligible for that month. About a week or so, into the month, I sawp the thread overto the voting thread. So this months voting thread, started out as the nomination...

    Overdrive alternator pulley

I will mic., the new pulley, and compair those measurements to the old pulley before I install it, once I remove the OE pulley. If I need to add a spacer, or turn off some material from that back of the new pulley, that isn't a big deal for me. I work in a machine shop.

    Overdrive alternator pulley

Yeah, that's what I figure. Hope it's not to hard to get the pulley off, but if so, and I'm at work, we have all the tools to remove the old pulley from the alternator, and press on the new pulley if needed.
