    Speedo not working

Your transmission is not electronically controlled, other than the torque converter lockup. When you say shifting, if you mean other than a couple hundred RPM difference from torque converter locked/unlocked, something else is going on. Richard

Talk me into, or out of, it...

I intend to; that's too much money to just give up - but not before exhausting any potential tricks to making them work. I've seen mention of bending the rod to make them tighten up, but I gotta tell you, that rod is not some flimsy thing so I don't want to just go stupid on it and cause a...

    Pontiac Rallys on c1500?

The center caps don't push through the wheel from behind; they fit a smaller hole on the face of the wheel. Absolutely. So while the mid 60's design -might- only fit a drum brake, they ran that style of wheel all the way through the 80's IIRC, which would've necessitated a design change around...

    Pontiac Rallys on c1500?

I'm thinking pretty much all that stuff is 78.3mm hub bore so he should be OK. I've seen a few references to 78.1mm but I think that slight of a variation might be an error. Richard

Talk me into, or out of, it...

Got my second blower motor delivered undamaged.. first one was destroyed. Went to install it today and found that as usual, they can't make anything a direct swap. Stupid little stuff that makes it more annoying than it should be. The hole in the flange for the ground tab screw? Too large...

    Fuel pressure regulation 95 tbi

Yep, sure sounds like a pump meant for the 7.4 instead of the smaller engines. I'd swap the pump for the correct one. It's kinda wild that if you look up a tank and pump assembly for a '95, choosing 5.7 or 7.4 doesn't get you different part #'s, although it should. Looks like they're happy...

    Headlight tap from dash

Look in the wiring diagrams in the factory service manual. Free download links in the Engine section, pinned to the top of the list. The dash lights would be a simple spot to tap in but you'll want to be careful not to overload the circuit. Richard

    AC Issue

You could have a couple different issues but it would help to be clearer in your explanation. You say there's no air flow - do you hear the fan motor running? If no, then the problem could be the switch, the harness to it (burns up at the connector), fan motor, or resistor. If yes, then the...

    Pontiac Rallys on c1500?

They'll almost surely be for a car that had 1/2" studs but they -might- fit (the truck uses 14mm); I've seen several different old GM car wheels on GMT400's. Most common seemed to be the chrome Buick Riviera 5 spoke wheels from the mid-late 60's. Are you sure the ones you're looking at are...

    SBC Oil Filter Adapter Leak

They are cast aluminum, IIRC. I'd wonder if it's cracked and it isn't apparent when off the engine, but the crack spreads when it's bolted down, might even be in an area that isn't visible but interferes with sealing. Richard

    Strange Power Window Probelm

OP mentioned circuit breaker initially and nobody mentioned this, so I think it's worth covering, even if it is an ancient thread. 1988-1994 the ACC/IGN circuit breaker in your fuse panel is on the circuit for the power windows. If it's getting hot and breaking the circuit when this issue...

Ran over branch & truck stopped

Unrelated but related; my first ex-police car was an '89 Caprice. Cool ride, had been painted black for use in a movie shoot, and had twin chrome spotlights, one on each A-pillar. So it looked like an undercover car, other than the spots. I first ran a set of repro Corvette rally wheels on it...

Front springs don't really go bad. Rears can become sagged or cracked, if the truck has been overloaded. Richard

    The Stupid Interior Questions Thread

And, be careful with the plastic bezel in the seat cushion where the belt goes through. It's plastic-welded on very small nubs to retain it. They break easily and then the bezel will flop around. Richard

    The Stupid Interior Questions Thread

Here's a dumb one. I've never bought new visors. My old ones were 100% trashed so new seemed the best route. They came in and look pretty good, but it appears the only way to install them is to poke a hole in the fabric where the rod goes. Seems simple other than I don't wanna screw up and...

    93 Suburban big block fun.

About a day left on that auction, and it's up to $6500 now. If it sold at that price, with Hagerty's 7% premium, that's a $7K total. I'm guessing the high bidders are dazzled by the 20' shine on it.. because I don't see $7K there. It'll be interesting to see what it ends for. Richard

    Laredo

For some reason I would've never imagined new GM arms were still available, with so many parts discontinued these days. Thanks for prompting me to look into new parts. I was ready to go hunt the boneyards for some hook type arms to replace the peg style on my '93, but everywhere I might go is...

    95 gmc sierra sl ac

Did you check for specific capacities of oil and refrigerant? I could be wrong but 11oz of oil sounds like a little bit too much. It will vary depending on year, model, etc. All those shavings surely came from the compressor so it's likely bad, BTW. Richard

    New here.

The stuff that has circulated in the oil has caused bearing damage yet to be seen. Agreed with the others, it's time to pull for rebuild, or replace with something else. Richard
