Decapping the injectors won't add any power. Just make it run rich.

Decapping the injectors with all the other items I said will yield him more power since he will be able to mess with the tune also. If he's not tuning than yes I wouldn't decap the injectors.

I've been very happy with a Isky 212/218 .561"/.570" 114 in my LQ4. And i tow a good bit.
Idles great with just a very little chop. But with stock exhaust and no cats a hot rodder can hear it's not a stock cam.

I went ahead and did LS7 lifters and a new set of Isky 165A springs when i freshened up the LQ4.

The 5.3 I put in the '91 has a 212/212 .561"/.561" 114+3 isky cam in it. It idles good and has some good low end.

Dunno what tune you have for the 6.0 but a stock tune is pretty bad. They have a 60 second delay for PE and such.
Run 93 with a good tune and it wakes up alot!

Like he said your pe tables are all messed up. They make them non existent. Just mess with those and you'll be happy

If they arent maxed out its not going to help anything. And if you do uncap them and not get them flow tested it could lead to other issues.

Yes this is true. It all depends on the power he goes for after getting it tuned. With the stock injectors he'll be good until I think 400whp, correct me if I'm wrong. He can get up to 350whp on just the cam and springs alone. That's been proven.

Depending on how much growth you are planning to do with the truck would determine if you will need to do the injectors. Like RDF1 said don't mess with them if you don't plan on having more than 400 to the ground. If you get the bug to go faster research injectors and other power adders.

I agree.. but it depends on what year LQ4 as to what size factory injectors are. The early 21# are maxed out stock. 25# don't give you much wiggle room. Anything larger than a tow cam I'd do injectors first. 8.1 (36?#) and 8.1 marine (44#) injectors can be found for a decent price.
I put down 440rwhp/540rwtq on a stock lq4 with a turbo and 8.1 marine injectors. Moved up fast tho. I now have 90# ha.

Go to the junk yard and start looking for flex fuel trucks and rob their injectors. If I remember correctly they flow 44lbs. If you take the sensor also than you can run flex fuel, if it is of the plenty by you.

RDF1 did you do a sloppy build? Those aren't bad numbers for stock tho. Pretty Damn nice. What turbo did you have?

Flex fuels are 36# for the 03-07 and require a different connector than the 99-02 injectors also.
Na I had one of the old sts rear mount kits way back in 2007 or 2008 ha. Garrett 60mm. It was choking out bad at 5500.
But it was a good setup for towing. Ended up going a 12.5@110 with a small 50 shot of nitrous on 6psi in a 5100# Silverado.

Ahhh got ya. Well that will be better than the 25 and cheaper than new ones lol....but truthfully once you figure out what you're doing Jay, you'll need to choose a power level you want.

You guys seem to know your stuff. 350-400rwhp would suit me just fine. I do use this truck as a daily driver and tow with it regularly. So I don't need anything too wild! Don't really wanna go with forced induction at the moment as funds are tight! (3 kids!) I have the tuning software. Just want a truck that will hold its own! People think these older trucks are slow. I wanna surprise them when they think they've got a sucker on the line. Gonna start messing with the tune this weekend. I'm sure it can be improved. But wanna have a cam in mind because I know tuning alone won't satisfy me. I've got to turn some wrenches as well!
