Its a lot of fun beating a power stroke. I have never lost a race to a diesel. Of course we are talking street trucks. I am bad about racing someone. I know what my trucks runs. With my mods, it is a 15 second truck. I once raced a 2005, 2500 with a vortec max. So a 6.0L. We were neck and neck to 80 MPH. That is where he started pulling away from me. So one day this little Ford Ranger tries to leave me @ the green light. I wasn't having that, but he was on my door, and I could not shake him. We were neck and neck to about 95 where we had to shut it down for the way the road was. Anyway, I get home, and looked up the 0 to 60 times ( that also gives you the 1/4 miles times) and the 4.0L Ranger is a 15 second truck. No wonder I could not shake him. The other day, I'm on the high way, and I'm kind of cutting off this F-150. He finally gets to where he can get around my. As he does, he reves it as he goes by, I look at the tail gate, and there is a emblem, that says 600HP. I didn't even try. Sometimes you have to know who to mess with HaHa.

I lost in the 1/8 mile to a v6 2wd Ford explorer, so I know the feeling lol. Plus it helps that he was way lighter than my Suburban.

I do manage to win most of the time. A 2014 turbo Hyundai Sonata thought he was going to leave me @ a green light. That didn't happen much to his surprise HaHa. I do know what not to mess with though. I wont fool with a Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger. I know better. My truck is my daily driver.

Before even doing a cam, get it tuned to release some of the power the factory hides. Than get you a cam that won't force you to change a lot of the valve train. Are you running trailblazer ss manifolds? Decap your injectors. Should give you a little more pep. By you some pac springs can't remember the number but I know someone else will lol. All of that will be under one grand.

I just had my first showdown with a Powerstroke! He huffed and puffed, blew black smoke everywhere! But he couldn't catch me! I know, pics or it didn't happen. But it was a spur of the moment thing! The guy even gave me a thumbs up at the next light! First time I've actually raced anyone in a long time. Got the heart pumping a little bit. Makes me wanna cam this thing! Anybody know of a good cam for a stock 6.0 engine? While retaining the ability to tow when I need too.
btr truck cam or tsp low lift. If i cam my little 4.8 its getting a tsp stage 2 low lift

I've been very happy with a Isky 212/218 .561"/.570" 114 in my LQ4. And i tow a good bit.
Idles great with just a very little chop. But with stock exhaust and no cats a hot rodder can hear it's not a stock cam.

I went ahead and did LS7 lifters and a new set of Isky 165A springs when i freshened up the LQ4.

The 5.3 I put in the '91 has a 212/212 .561"/.561" 114+3 isky cam in it. It idles good and has some good low end.

Dunno what tune you have for the 6.0 but a stock tune is pretty bad. They have a 60 second delay for PE and such.
Run 93 with a good tune and it wakes up alot!

Decapping the injectors won't add any power. Just make it run rich.
