I'm just currently running the stock L31 single knock sensor. it seems to be working just fine, though I have it tuned for just the 1 sensor. I've thought about adding a second one, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I think running 2 of them would be fine, though for the added time and expense, I just don't see much benefit considering the single sensor is still able to sense and compensate KR for any detected knock just fine.

Do you happen to have any pics of your motor with the coils and no dist.? I'd like to see what it looks like.

I think I have one on the passenger side where you might be able to see, but it was when I was doing alot of other things to the truck, so its kindof a mess, and much less organized than it is now. let me see if I can find it.

I can't really find one that shows the distributor area at all. if I have time I'll try to grab some current ones with the better organized passenger valve cover and new coil mounts, etc. remember though, that the distributor body is still there, it has to provide a cam signal. it just doesn't have a cap/rotor/wires/etc on it.

here's a pic from the eficonnection site. it shows what is left of the distributor and with the sealed cap on it, this is an LT4 I think, but its the same thing for an L31

Here's a good question, what vehicle is the crank sensor being used from that has a 24x signal that works with the timing cover? Is it EFIconnections specific made sensor or is there a vehicle out there that uses the same sensor. I've been looking into doing this on a carb setup using the MSD 6LS box and coil harness from a truck.

its specifically made by eficonnection. the 24x sensor from the genIII/IV motors is not compatable at all with any gen I/II.

The actual sensor is from an L21 truck engine, the reluctor wheel is copied from a 24x reluctor from an L21 truck engine as well. Both of tehse parts are installed into a Vortec 305/350 front timing cover.

well, kindof....as I understand it, the reluctor design was based off the L21 24x reluctor, but the crank size and keyway positioning was incorrect for use on a SBC. so the sensor from the L21 is used but the reluctor is a customised variaton of the L21 reluctor, you can't just get one from a L21 engine and put it on a SBC.

I think 3 months but call your doctor or gynecologist.

HAHA, you think the gynecologist can help you install a 24x crank reluctor? go for it. but I dont think you can upgrade the wife/GF's ignition system so easily.

post reported.
