EVAP Canister removal

I have a 1988 RCSB with a carbed 400 sbc. I was thinking of removing the the canister since it really doesn't do anything now. Ive read that it would be wise to keep a valve of some sort to prevent pressure building up in the gas tank. Right as of now i don't have time or the patience to drop the gas tank and run a valve along the fill tube into the bed fender. I was thinking of adding the valve into the engine compartment mounting it to the radiator core support. Is there any dangers to this or any other downsides?

There isn't a Canister Purge Valve in the 88, just a vacuum line hooked to it from the TB.

I’m just referring to this canister
And that canister is in the bottom right of the upper schematic.

Edit: the canister is filled with charcoal to help reduce the odor of gas, just leave it connected to the line going to the gas tank. YMMV

What's going to happen when you install a valve...and the valve closes? Think about this.

Removing the canister is nuts.

What you should be doing is connecting the canister to a vacuum source, (which may be ported, or may be manifold vacuum) so it works as designed. Think like an engineer instead of like a high-school kid.

I agree with all of the above advice. In your other thread, you say your trucks been Frankensteined. Seems like it doesn’t need anymore of that.
