Hey all, I was wondering where in the world I could find me some dexron 2 fluid as specified in the book of my 1990 Chevy c1500. I also am wondering the capacity as I have no idea what it is… again not in book. And is they shift kits for these pickups I see first pop up worth it? Just looking to improve shift performance and quality of life on the trans. If it’s a performance upgrade I’d be ok with it as long as it doesn’t make it to where I need to rebuild my stock motor. Thanks!

A shift kit will improve the longevity of the trans. The quicker and firmer the shifts the less time the clutches have rubbing on each other

Ok, I’m thinking on doing a trans flux flush as well, do you know how much I should need?

Is that the transmission your truck has? Some of the early trucks did indeed come with the 3 speed trans but most 1500's came with the 700R4 which is 4 speed (overdrive.)

I'm pretty sure the only 1500's with a 3 speed were the early 454SS trucks. The turbo 350 got replaced by the 700R during the end of the squarebody years.

I was pretty surprised to pick up an '88 RCSB 4.3 V6 / TH400 or whatever they started calling it by then - 3L80 etc. no (O) in the gear indicator on the cluster. It was the maroon GMC I posted pics of recently showing the example of the 31x10.50's stock height/stock wheels. It's the only GMT400 1500 I've seen in person come from GM with a 3 speed auto.

Weird little truck now that I think about it. The little engine, 3 speed auto, crank windows, can't remember if it was a no headliner/no B-pillar trim/etc. truck or not. I think it had full interior trim IIRC - yeah just checked my old fullsize pics and you can see the B-pillar trim. And it had quad lamps and chrome grille, not the big sealed beam grille.

Have you decoded the RPO options on the glove box door? If possible to know exactly what your truck was built with?
