Anyone know of anyone having a lower control arm failure after trimming for 15" wheels to clear? The install instructions tell you where and how much has to be trimmed then tells you not to do it! I plan to run 454 SS wheels after dropped spindle install.
Search did not help. TIA

I've been around these trucks for 30+ years, hundreds of magazines, TONS of time online reading this forum and others......and NOT ONE mention of a failed LCA from the bit of trimming that needs to happen for the 15' wheels.

When I bought my '92 ECLB it had very roughly cut LCA's and stock 15's. I ran the cut arms for a few tens of thousands of miles, no issues. When I rebuilt the front end, I was doing ball joints, control arm bushings, etc. so it just made sense for me to grab some LCA's from the boneyard and replace the bushings and ball joints in those, having them ready to simply bolt in when I got the old ones out. I was running 17's by then and later 20's so cut LCA's weren't needed anymore.

Belltech used to (dunno if they do anymore) sell little pre-stamped A-shaped pieces of steel you could weld in to brace after cutting. I haven't seen anyone use them yet.

Because they push out the front wheels and makes the truck look goofy if running non staggered wheels. Really noticeable when running factory 15s.

I try to tuck my wheels in as far as I can since i tend to run everything super low and don’t want to rub the inside of my fender lip. same reason I’ve ran fox body control arms on sn95 mustangs.
