Other than the passenger airbag is there any reason a 1995/96 K1500 dash will not bolt into a 1998?
Also is the heater box the same between the years?

I am not 100% on this but if the air bag was removed I do not see why it would not work and if it dose not work why not pull a dash from a 97+ that has a pocket where the air bag would be
I think all 97+ 3500s and some 2500 pickups have no passenger air bag
we have a 97 K3500 crew cab long bed with a 6.5 turbo diesel it has no air bas

Yes, the 8600# + gvwr trucks were not required to have airbags for driver or passenger. My CCLB 5.7 is 9200# gvwr, and it has the no-bag wheel and the cubby in the passenger side where the bag module would be. The dashboard changed in '97; the '95-'96 version is lower on the passenger side and has 2 cupholders in that space.

@98chevy2500SS did one, maybe he can chime in. You’ll need the duct from the donor dash but that and the wiring just clip in.

The dash will fit, but just be sure you bring the black plastic A/C ductwork along with it. The 97-up one is not the same as 95-96 and won't fit. Not talking about the actual box where the evaporator and heater cores, mode doors, etc. are - just the long ductwork piece that runs across behind the dash and attaches to it and feeds all the vents.
