Ah, yes, so if this were a high performance build, I'd absolutely do something fancy with the paint. Alas, it's not (and it's taking long enough to put together even WITHOUT performance parts), so stock paint it will be.

I like Duplicolor high temp paint. It lays down real nice. I’ve also used VHT high temp paint and it is also great, albeit a bit more expensive.

I never paint an engine black lol. Always red. Black is boring, hard to see when everything else is black/dark under the hood. Put some polished aluminum covers n trim n it pops…..just my $.01

GLOSS black is THE paint if you want to hide all your oil leaks... :head3:

I probably still would go for the black factree look, or maybe Corporate Blue, for some additional O in the OBS...

Black is good for radiating heat. Apparently, the outer skin of a water jacket behaves as a radiator to some extent.

GM saved a heap of money by painting engines black.

Hid the oil leaks. Customer can't see 'em, customer doesn't complain for repair.

So.... shall I start a new thread or can we get some opinions on exhaust next? I'm having a hard time finding long tube headers. Catalytic converters are no problem, as I can weld on universal ones. But then there's the rest of the exhaust.

This is for a 5-speed with a single O2 sensor.
